Treat your sweet tooth at the 5 best cake shops in Glasgow
I’m picky about coffee spots in Glasgow, but I’m even pickier about the slice sitting beside my flat white. That’s why, for this review, I’m looking at bakeries that can handle what our collective sweet tooth craves, on different occasions.
For me, a good cake shop in Glasgow offers cakes that don’t taste like they were built only for Instagram. I searched for shops worth bookmarking, whether you’re looking for a showstopper to serve 100 guests, or just want a seriously good slice with your latte.
How much will you spend at a cake shop in Glasgow?
In Glasgow, expect to spend £3 to £6 on a slice or pastry, £15 to £30 on a box of cupcakes, and roughly £30 to £80 on a simple celebration cake. For personalised birthday cakes, prices typically range from £75 to over £200, depending on size, flavour, and decoration.
Some Glasgow cake shops list custom-style cakes from about £29.90 to nearly £300.
Expect the price to be higher for bespoke wedding cakes. A simpler design may start at around £150, while luxury, multi-tier, heavily decorated cakes can easily run into the several hundreds.
Make sure to budget extra for delivery, consultations, tastings, urgent orders, and detailed sugar work for centrepiece-worthy cakes.
1. Eggless Cake Shop Glasgow

Address: 37 Bath St
Contact: +441417241281
Business hours:
Monday to Saturday, 10 AM–7 PM
Sunday, 10 AM–6 PM
I picked Eggless Cake Shop for my favourite niece’s surprise 21st birthday, because she’s a vegan with a pretty serious sweet tooth. The shop’s core speciality is egg-free celebration cakes, with vegan and gluten-free ranges, so phew!
They also offer custom birthday, photo, wedding, tiered, novelty, and cupcake options. Flavour-wise, they go beyond plain vanilla, with offerings like coffee, pineapple, coconut, gulab jamun, mango, Biscoff, pistachio, and those trendy Dubai chocolate-style cakes.
I like that they’re more of a practical Bath Street lifesaver for inclusive birthday parties rather than a multi-awarded confectionery shop. For my last-minute party panic, I also appreciate their online ordering, pickup, and same-day delivery options.
Pricing is best determined at checkout or by calling, but I’d treat Eggless Cake Shop as a mid-range party cake shop, with counter slices reported around a fiver, and bespoke orders climbing by size and design.
I’d recommend it to vegan families, egg-allergy households, and anyone planning a birthday where nobody should be stuck with a sad “special diet” corner slice.
The catch is that some vegan options may need advance ordering, with certain items listed for collection from two days of ordering.

You’d never have known it was vegan and gluten-free
I had a custom cake made here for my 30th birthday, a heart-shaped vegan strawberry and cream birthday cake. It was delicious! You’d never have known it was vegan and gluten-free. Absolutely divine; the cake was huge and very good value. Highly recommend this business! The shop itself is beautiful, and the customer service is great too!

Had this delicious mango slice; it was moist, soft, and I really loved it. Recommend this place all day long. The staff was attentive to my likes and very polite as well.

2. Cake Box Glasgow (Duke Street)

Address: 497 Duke St
Contact: +441414590238
Business hours: Daily, 11 AM–9 PM
I had to sprint to Cake Box Glasgow on Duke Street (thankfully near my place of work) when the gallery manager suddenly remembered an important artist had a birthday that day. The real lifesaver was the shop’s 1-hour click & collect process, which spared us all from pre-party panic.
It also helps that it has that established-chain reliability that prevented us from having numerous opening-night chaos when cakes are part of the event.
The shop’s core speciality is 100% egg-free celebration cakes, with fresh in-store decorating, ready-style cakes, cupcakes, cheesecakes, brownies, and party bundles. Flavour-wise, they’re more fun than fussy, with red velvet, pistachio cream, and Nutella berry being particular palate-pleasers.
Current online prices show smaller whole cakes to be under £30, and photo cakes to be a little under £50. For daily availability, I’d advise ordering ahead, especially if the celebrator is a VIP, because popular designs and slices can move fast.
I’d recommend it for celebrations in offices, galleries, families, and last-minute hosts who need a good-looking cake to level up the festivities.
That said, Cake Box feels more like a polished party counter than a cosy independent cafe, so it won’t likely scratch that tiny-batch West End bakery itch.

Very reasonable pricing
Cakes are out of this world! Stumbled across it yesterday, and so glad I went in. We had pistachio and a Dubai slice, both of which were amazing. Very reasonable pricing and the lady was lovely; will definitely be back.

Everyone loved the cake
Great experience; the cake was ready on time. Cupcakes were delicious. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I also ordered balloons to match my son’s birthday theme. Everyone loved the cake, and it tasted very fresh. Highly recommended; will be ordering all my cakes from here now.

3. SugarFall Patisserie

Address: 153 Byres Rd
Contact: +441413701920
Business hours: Daily, 11 AM–6 PM
My engaged colleagues were on the hunt for a wedding cake that feels more West-End romance than supermarket-chic, so they approached SugarFall Patisserie. They have a reputation as a bakery with a proper sit-down cafe/showroom feel for cake discussions.
Lucky for them, the shop specialises in artisan French patisserie, special-occasion cakes, pastries, chocolates, and elegant celebration pieces from its Byres Road cafe.
They like how the flavours lean polished and pretty, with handcrafted pastries, gateaux, afternoon tea treats, and celebration cakes built for more refined dessert people than icing-heavy chaos.
For wedding planning, my couple-friends love that the shop appears on Hitched as a Glasgow wedding bakery, with listed pricing from around £100. It also helps that it’s headed by a pastry chef who works alongside a master chocolatier.
It’s a great choice for soon-to-be-wedded couples who want elegant desserts, tasting-friendly patisserie vibes, and a cake table that looks like it studied abroad in Paris. For everyday orders, though, I’d recommend pre-ordering to snag coveted treats.
For those expecting ultra-large showroom bedazzlement, though, SugarFall Patisserie might not be the most ideal stop, since it’s more boutique than massive wedding-cake warehouse.

The presentation and taste are worthy of a 5-star restaurant
Been eating here for years and am never disappointed by the magical creations. The presentation and taste are worthy of a 5-star restaurant. The Black Forest Tartlette is a favourite, as are the Passion Fruit, Vegan chocolate ball and Lemon Tart. The latest creation I’ve tried is the Christmas Gift, which has the intense and fragrant aroma of semi-dried bananas.

Every detail felt special
Just back from Sugarfall Patisserie — a wee gem. The décor is sugar pink and whimsical – you almost expect Ken and Barbie to glide past at any moment. Afternoon tea was perfect: a real tasty selection of sandwiches, fabulous scones, and truly stunning cakes that looked as good as they tasted. Every detail felt special, making it a memorable experience that we would repeat in a heartbeat… after some recovery time from this time – Lord knows how many calories were involved!

4. Cake Box Glasgow (Shawlands)

Address: 153 Kilmarnock Rd, Shawlands
Contact: +441414590593
Business hours: Daily, 11 AM–9 PM
Cake Box in Shawlands has become my “long day, nae patience” stop when I want cupcakes that feel like a proper treat after a tiring work-week. It’s not a Good Food Guide Top 50 artisan name, but I love its daily grab-and-go appeal.
Aside from the appeal of 100% egg-free cakes and desserts, I’m nuts over the shop’s fruit-topped fresh-cream cake slices. All the cupcakes, cheesecakes, brownies, mini cakes, and celebration cakes taste fresh and look sweetly decorated, too.
For quick treats, I find Shawlands a handy location, especially if I’m after cupcakes or a few slices rather than a custom showpiece. Current delivery pricing is also reasonable, from a little under £13, with online whole cakes priced at under £30.
I’d recommend this shop to Southside sweet tooths, egg-free households, and anyone like me who wants a dependable wee cupcake fix before heading home in a huff.
However, don’t expect them to churn out tiny-batch patisserie drama, because of their chain-store setup.

The perfect cake-cream ratio
Bought a birthday cake from here for my daughter’s 21st birthday. She was so happy with and it was delicious! So soft and moist with the perfect cake/cream ratio. All the wee cakes in-store looked fabulous too. We ended up buying some, and they were so tasty and fresh! 100% recommended.

I bought the coconut dream & fresh cream forest fruit cake from this branch. I was served by the lovely FAJAR, who was friendly, helpful and smiley. The shop was clean, pretty, and the cakes were delicious & very reasonably priced. I will definitely be purchasing more.

5. Designer Cakes by Paige

Address: 639 Great Western Rd
Contact: +441413394387
Business hours: Monday to Saturday, 10 AM–4 PM
My neighbour shortlisted Designer Cakes by Paige for her son’s 7th birthday party, and with good reason. The shop’s main speciality is bespoke designer cakes for birthdays, weddings, christenings, and corporate events.
Her son loves that they produce 3D/custom themes, so a superhero, gaming, animal, or cartoon cake is very much in the shop’s wheelhouse. As for the proud mum, she’s pretty happy about Designer Cakes being multi-awarded by various Scottish industries.
Flavour-wise, the pull is less trendy pastry experimentation and more on big, detailed, child-approved showpieces. There’s also a good online catalogue of wedding-themed cakes and buttercream cakes to choose from.
It would be a good idea to do what my neighbour did, which is to treat her cake as made-to-order to ensure availability. Custom cakes need proper lead time, especially with nitpicky feedback from a 7-year-old who wants 3D details.
For the budget-conscious, the shop offers a Cakes Under £70 section, while a past three-tier wedding cake shows a £350 range. These rates are pretty useful for budgeting and comparisons.
That said, last-minute parents who want dramatic, showstopping bespoke cakes may either have to settle for plainer available designs, or look elsewhere if they really need a cake, stat.

I would highly recommend this cake designer
Designer Cakes by Paige is by far the best cake maker and designer I have ever come across. The amount of detail in every cake, the attention to detail, is amazing, and Lesley wants to get it absolutely right for her customers. We have had many birthday celebrations which have been massively enhanced with one of her amazing cakes, plus they taste so good!! I would highly recommend this cake designer; she is very talented!

They did a great job with everything from the little details to the flavour
I ordered a customised Hobbit cake for my partner’s birthday, and not only was it delicious, but it came out absolutely amazing – just what I wanted! Lesley communicated really well with me about what I wanted, and they did a great job with everything from the little details to the flavour. I highly recommend and would order again in the near future.
