The 5 Best Electricians in Glasgow to Keep Your Home From Going Dark

  • Trade Accreditations: Verified professionals help protect your property from dangerous electrical fires and code violations. We checked that each company holds current approvals for domestic work to keep your home safe.
  • Transparent Pricing: Nobody likes getting hit with hidden call-out fees before a job even starts. We looked for tradespeople who offer clear upfront rates or free written quotes so you know what you’re paying.
  • Service Specialisation: A crew that excels at full rewires might not be the fastest choice for a sudden midnight power cut. We reviewed their core services to see which specific jobs they handle best.
  • Response Times: We evaluated their emergency availability and standard turnaround times for general callouts.

A flickering hallway light might seem like a minor issue, but ignoring electrical faults can quickly become a bigger, more expensive problem. In some cases, putting off a repair can cost twice as much as fixing the issue early.

If you want to avoid that headache, you need a local tradesperson who arrives on time and explains the costs clearly. We researched local providers and verified their credentials, prices, and service terms to save you the hassle.

Here’s our guide to finding the best electrician in Glasgow, and exactly what each one is good for.

The team also includes complimentary plastering repairs with rewiring work, so you won’t have to patch up the walls yourself before redecorating.

Once the rewiring and repairs are finished, you can also check out local home improvement shops if you’re ready to refresh the rest of your space.

However, the company only handles residential jobs, so commercial property managers will need to look elsewhere.

Customer Reviews

I am extremely satisfied with the work

The team were polite, professional, and highly knowledgeable, and the quality of the workmanship was excellent. We only identified a couple of minor snags, both of which were rectified immediately before they left the property.

They also left everything clean and tidy at the end of each day, which was greatly appreciated and showed real attention to detail.

I am extremely satisfied with the work carried out and would highly recommend Home Rewire to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy electrician.

Really happy

Great experience. Quick phone back from Amy, a great call handler. Also, Nick, great electrician. Very good at his job, knowledgable at what he does. Gave me ideas for a future couple of jobs that I will be using HomeRewire for. Really happy.

I’ve now got more light than I can handle.

Their work is of an incredibly high standard

I had a Hypervolt Pro 3 EV Charger fitted by PWS. A big thank you to both Paul and Gordon as I couldn’t be happier with the end result. Gordon did an amazing job fitting it and is a fantastic skilled electrician.

They were very prompt at replying to messages and the price quoted was fair

This firm fitted an EV charger for me. They were very prompt at replying to messages and the price quoted was fair. The electrician turned up on time, did a good job and left the place tidy. Would definitely use again. I was not asked to leave this review.

They arrived and completed the job very efficiently

I was let down by another electrician, after waiting in all morning. I then contacted Mearns Electrical on the off chance that they would have space this week for an outdoor light to be changed. I was lucky that they had a cancellation and  within 1.5 hours they arrived and completed the job very efficiently.

I will need some re wiring done in the near future and I would definately use Mearns Electrical for that too.

Customer Reviews

Fully recommend!

EV charger installed by David at my property. Polite and professional electrician. Sent a text to let me know he was on his way and arrived exactly when he said he would. Workmanship was neat and to an excellent standard. He even took the time to explain what App I was to download for the charger and talked me through set up.  Fully recommend!

Was very honest what needed done

David came out to diagnose issues with lighting after some issues were caused by another electrician, leaving us with no lights. Was very honest what needed done: a full rewire of our lighting circuits as diagnosing would have cost more to figure out and could have been a potential fire hazard even if he figured out how to resolve the issue. (the prev person could not figure it out and it was unlabelled and our home needed rewiring anyway)
