5 Best Tree Services in Glasgow for Expert Felling and Emergency Care

Proper certification and insurance - We looked for NPTC-qualified tree surgeons with solid Public and Employer’s Liability cover, especially for tricky urban Glasgow jobs.

Fast emergency response - A good firm should offer genuine 24/7 callouts, ideally within under-2-hour response times for storm damage, fallen limbs, or hazardous trees.

Eco-conscious waste handling - Bonus points if they recycle tree waste into mulch, logs, or biofuel instead of just hauling everything to the landfill.

Technical range and tidy results - We favour teams that can handle both delicate pruning in tight gardens and heavy-duty felling or stump grinding with emphasis on safety, skill, and clean-up.

When you work with great landscapers in Glasgow long enough, you learn one thing fast: trees don’t wait politely to shed their leaves on your yard when it’s convenient (or worse, decide to drop a dead branch on the neighbour’s car!).

For this review, I looked for the kind of tree service in Glasgow that can handle the serious stuff, from pruning and felling to stump grinding and diseased trees.

Basically, I’m after arborists who turn up, quote clearly, and leave gardens safer than they found them. Here are the best ones I rounded up.

How much does tree service in Glasgow cost?

In Glasgow, tree services usually cost around £150 (up to £350) for smaller tree surgery jobs. In comparison, full tree felling can run from £600 to over £2,000, depending on height, access, risk, waste removal, and whether climbing or sectional dismantling is needed.

Basic pruning or crown thinning often costs around £200 to £600; crown reduction can be £300 to £1,000; and stump grinding is usually £50 to £300 per stump.

For bigger or awkward trees near houses, roads, sheds, or power lines, expect the quote to be higher. Large removals can reach £1,500 to over £3,000.

When my garden has gone full Kelvingrove jungle mode, I make sure to call GlasGrow Tree Surgeons. They’re a handy call for homeowners who need tree removal, pruning, hedge maintenance, stump grinding, emergency work, and even fencing issues.

They’re properly set up for light thinning, dangerous branches, and getting sunlight back without butchering my trees. I like that they’re City & Guilds NPTC-qualified, Lantra approved, Arborisk-insured, and carry £5M public/product liability plus £10M employer’s liability cover.

The pricing is quote-based, which is understandable. Small jobs are around £80, and around £163 for stump grinding. I reckon they’re ideal for Glasgow homeowners who want insured, tidy, safety-first tree work with a special eco-conscious twist.

Their 24/7 emergency callout is also a big bonus, especially when stormy Glasgow weather sets in. For tougher jobs, they can do advanced rigging, cranes, and sectional dismantling, plus thorough cleanup and recycling/repurposing of green waste.

That said, same-day emergency attendance may still be dependent on severity and weather, so non-urgent garden jobs might not get preferred slotting during stormy spells.

Pros

  • Properly qualified, certified team
  • Strong insurance cover
  • 24/7 emergency support
  • Good technical range

Cons

  • Emergency jobs may take priority over non-urgent ones
  • Costs can rise for trickier access

They were reliable, friendly and also reasonably priced

These guys did a great job of replacing our old, fallen-down fence. They also took down a couple of overgrown trees, taking away all the branches and leaving the place nice and tidy. They were reliable, friendly and also reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend Glasgrow, a pleasure to have them round!

The customer service was quick and friendly

GlasGrow Tree surgeons are brilliant. I would highly recommend booking them. The team are quick, professional and efficient. Our hedge became unmanageable due to its height, and we’d never have been able to do it ourselves. The customer service was quick and friendly. Thank you again!

My friend’s restaurant proudly serves wood-fired pizza, so his ovens eat logs faster than a Glaswegian eats chips after last orders. The Glasgow Tree Surgeon is his personal pick because of this (and then some).

Alongside tree removal, pruning, stump grinding, hedge work, ash dieback checks, and conservation-area guidance, they also deliver locally sourced seasoned hardwood logs under 20% moisture.

For a pizza spot like my pal’s, that firewood arm is the tasty bit: hardwood burns hotter and longer, and the team delivers using a purpose-built trailer and crane. For him, it feels more like a proper supply chain from a working tree surgery yard.

Safety-wise, they’re not mucking about with a chainsaw and good vibes. Their team is NPTC-qualified, first aid-trained, follows AFAG safety guidelines, and carries up to £5M public liability plus £10M employer’s liability cover.

My friend now recommends them to other restaurants and businesses needing reliable firewood plus proper tree work from a fully insured local crew. Bonus: they also do a tidy cleanup after!

However, since they don’t openly publish fixed firewood or tree surgery rates, you’ll need to request a quote before budgeting.

Pros

  • Firewood supply is a real bonus
  • Great for protected-tree admin
  • Clearly stated safety credentials
  • Large-job capable

Cons

  • No published firewood pricing
  • Better suited for bigger jobs

Very tidy workers

Excellent service from Tom and his team. I had two Willow trees pollarded. Not the biggest job in the world, but a quick response to my request. Best of all, very reasonably priced, for a very professional job. Very tidy workers too.

The guys did an absolutely amazing job

They removed the cherry tree that was really close to our house. It involved climbing up and chopping it down piece by piece. The guys did an absolutely amazing job. Highly recommended!

When my brother’s business needs massive site clearance, he turns to Stevenson Tree Care. They’re Glasgow-based and have been around since 2018, so he’s been using their services for some time now.

They’re capable of handling commercial tree work, pruning, felling, dismantling, hedge work, storm-damaged trees, wood chip supply, planting, and tree surveys.

The tree surveys matter most for his business, which needs vegetation management and periodic safety checks. He appreciates how the work is carried out by NPTC-certified arborists to BS3998:2010 standards, with qualifications and insurance available on request.

The team uses pro equipment to deal with proper clearance jobs. They aren’t open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week like other tree services in Glasgow, though they do offer to handle storm-damaged trees.

Pricing is by free, no-obligation quote, so expect commercial clearance and surveys to be priced after a site check. Beyond flashy marketing, my brother recommends them to others because of their standards-led tree maintenance, tidy workmanship, and practical advice.

Just to be on the safe side, though, I’d still ask directly about MEWPs, chippers, stump grinding gear, and waste recycling before booking them for large-scale commercial clearance.

Pros

  • Commercially-friendly scope
  • Follows recognised British Standards for tree work
  • Wood chip supply available
  • Free no-obligation quotes

Cons

  • No clear 24/7 response claim
  • Best for planned work, not spontaneous jobs

He left it so tidy you would not know the trees were cut down

Had Andy out today to remove two trees. What a great job, and left it so tidy you would not know the trees were cut down. I contacted Andy, and from day one, he kept in contact regarding the date and arrival time and was there when he said he would be. Very easy to deal with and knows his job. I would recommend him without hesitation. Great these days to have someone who does what he says.

They were very knowledgeable, efficient and thorough

Great job! Andy and his colleague worked so hard pruning the large copper beech, silver birch and holly trees in our front garden. They were very knowledgeable, efficient and thorough, doing the work that was required to keep the trees healthy and safe, but also made sure they looked good. Communication was excellent, and we will definitely be in touch again. Many thanks.

I have a colleague who lives in a large estate with, unfortunately, a rather large tree blocking his living room view. He wasn’t sure if there was council paperwork attached if he had it pruned, so he called Three Leaf Trees to handle all that.

He likes that they can check restrictions and arrange permission before anyone touches a twig on view-blocking trees.

The team handles pruning, felling, hedge work, TPO checks, and conservation-area permission, which saves folks like him from going through the nitty-gritty.

It also helps that their lead tree-climber is LANTRA-certified, and the team members are trained and qualified, with their work risk-assured for up to £5M.

They promise to keep their costs competitive, given their small team, and can provide a custom quote in as little as an hour. My work pal now raves about them to homeowners who want permissions handled and branches thinned sensibly.

Do note that they’re better suited to domestic pruning, felling, and paperwork-led jobs rather than urgent 24/7 emergency or large commercial clearance work.

Pros

  • Strong for TPO checks
  • Great for cautious homeowners
  • Fast quote turnaround
  • Tidy garden reputation

Cons

  • No 24/7 emergency setup
  • Not the strongest commercial clearance pick

They did a perfect job of reducing and shaping

Absolutely stellar service from Joseph and his team at Three Leaf Trees. With council approval, we had a Lime tree crowned, 50% of which they did a perfect job of reducing and shaping. This was after Joseph took the time to visit the site and analyse the task to be done, which was very much appreciated. Their attention to the surroundings was noted and appreciated, and they did a good job of clearing the site afterwards. I have no hesitation in recommending them based on our experience. Thank you, Joseph and team!

Two very professional guys had the job done

Requested a quote by email to remove 4 large conifer trees overbearing the garden, guys were out on the same day to assess the job and give us a very reasonable price! Kept informed by text of the date and times of their planned arrival. Two very professional guys had the job done, all wood removed and garden tidied in just about 3 hours. We are delighted to have a massive space back in our garden. I would very highly recommend this company to anyone.

Da had always wanted the old neglected orchard behind our childhood home turned from a tree graveyard into a safe play area for his grandkids. Enter Green Touch Services, with their stump grinding service, and that vision finally came to life last summer.

The team can remove stumps of almost any size or number, leaving the ground ready for building, fencing, planting, turfing, or paving. They also cover tree surgery and landscaping across Glasgow.

They’re NPTC-qualified and fully insured, too. It helps that their standout equipment is a proper stump grinding machine, which matters to my da when several stubbed apple tree stumps are involved, as he doesn’t want any ankle breakers left behind.

Da said he was given a reasonable price after a careful inspection of stump size, access, and the kind of waste removal involved afterwards.

He also likes how neat everything looked after the team left, so he was easily able to map out where the playground equipment would go.

That said, I’d still verify their clear emergency response-time guarantee (if available), along with detailed chippers or MEWP specs, just to be on the safe side.

Pros

  • Stump grinding is the standout service
  • Can handle multiple stumps
  • Tree work plus landscaping services

Cons

  • No easily available stump grinding pricing table
  • Equipment details are more stump-focused

Very impressed

Many thanks, Tamer and colleague, for the great work this morning. Within 2.5 hours, they had felled one large tree and capped/trimmed 3 others (I plan to use their services again in about 3 years to maintain these trees). At least one review mentioned work ethic. I totally agree, very impressive. I sent a message last week, and within minutes, Tamer replied. He popped over from another job to provide a quote later that day. Before leaving, he made an appointment and arrived here bang on 9.30 am this morning. Very impressed.

His team did a great job cutting back the tree to make it safe

I first met Tamer 8 years ago, and he did a great job. When I recently moved to a house with a huge tree, I called him straight away because he is very knowledgeable and listens to what you want. His team did a great job cutting back the tree to make it safe. They turned up early, worked very hard and left the garden spotless. 100% recommend!
