Calm the chaos with the 5 best hypnotherapy clinics in Glasgow

✔ Proper accreditation - We checked if the hypnotherapist is registered with recognised UK bodies like the GHR, CNHC, NCH, or BSCH, so we know the treatment is safe and ethical.

✔ Solid clinical experience - We looked at how many years they have been practising, what issues they commonly treat, and whether they have a strong record of successful client outcomes.

✔ Treatment approach - Do they know whether to use pure suggestion hypnotherapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, or NLP-based methods, and whether the style suits the client’s needs?

✔ Good consultation experience - We want to make good use of the free initial phone chat (when available) to see if we actually feel comfortable with the therapist’s voice, manner, and overall vibe.

I’ve done the therapy chats with a good psychotherapist, and “this time I’m quitting” chats with my family, but no dice. I figured trying hypnotherapy is the next sensible step to quitting smoking cold turkey.

Proper clinical hypnotherapy isn’t magic but a guided state of focused relaxation designed to make positive changes stick. So when I’m booking to properly bin the ciggies, I want a trustworthy practitioner who can make real change happen.

Let’s take a look at some of the best ones in Glasgow today (and no, I promise you won’t get hypnotised into surrendering your PIN against your will!).

How much does hypnotherapy cost in Glasgow?

In Glasgow, hypnotherapy usually starts with a free 15 to 30-minute phone or Zoom chat, although some practitioners charge around £50 to £80 for a full initial assessment. After that, a 60-minute clinical hypnotherapy session typically costs between £60 and £100.

For smoking cessation, many clinics price it as a one-off intensive session lasting around 90 to 120 minutes, usually costing £150 to £250. If you’re booking for something like weight management, some therapists also offer package deals, with 4-session bundles or virtual gastric band programmes often landing at around £250 to £350.

When I got fed up pretending I could quit smoking “next Monday,” Optimind Method felt more results-focused than fluffy. It offers something more than straight suggestion hypnotherapy with vague promises.

It’s a city centre practice on West Regent Street led by Biodun Ogunyemi, who built his own method around advanced hypnotherapy, NLP, psychology, neuroscience, and mindfulness.

Biodun leads with tailored one-to-one work, practices in Glasgow and London, and also runs sessions online. I find the latter handy when I need flexibility without losing that personal feel.

For me, the big draw is smoking cessation, though Optimind also covers anxiety, phobias, weight management, and psychotherapy-style support. I felt at ease from the start (first phone call), and have talked to past clients who claim they finally stayed off cigarettes after their sessions.

The centre has plenty of experience, a distinctive method, and a strong track record with habit change and anxiety-related issues. I would recommend them to those looking for a strategic practitioner for issues like smoking, stress, or mindset work.

That said, it’s still a therapist-led practice rather than a bigger multi-clinician centre, so availability may be tighter when demand picks up.

Pros

  • Uses a proprietary, tailored system
  • Strong for habit-changing cases like smoking, alcohol, and weight issues
  • Offers both online sessions and Glasgow appointments
  • Calm, approachable practitioner

Cons

  • The method may appeal less to those seeking a more traditional clinic model
  • Not a multi-disciplinary clinic

Customer Reviews

The sessions are professional and intimate

Had a great experience with Biodun, he is very helpful, understanding and a great listener. The sessions are professional and intimate, which allows you to be completely honest and get the best out of the therapy. There are also plenty of materials provided to do further work at home. Overall, I would definitely recommend it to anyone debating the treatment. Thanks again.

I always felt very calm and positive in his sessions

I have been suffering from anxiety since I was very young, and Biodun has taught me coping mechanisms and how to manage my anxiety. Biodun was very easy to work with, and I always felt very calm and positive in his sessions. I would definitely recommend him to family and friends.

My sister had reached that point where every diet felt futile, and told me she was keen on using hypnotherapy for her weight issues. Clarity Hypnosis Glasgow Central caught her eye for weight work that actually tackles the habit underneath.

It’s led by Jennifer McLeod, who offers a free consultation before you commit, which made the whole thing feel less risky and more sensible for my sis. Her clinic is right in the city centre beside Glasgow Central Station, so it’s an easy commute for her.

Jennifer’s style is more about positive suggestion, changing subconscious habits, and using hypnoanalysis to get at the deeper food issues. My sister finds this useful as her problem wasn’t so much hunger as comfort eating, boredom snacking, and “I deserve this” noshing.

Beyond weight management, Clarity also works with clients’ stress and anxiety, stopping smoking and vaping, fears and phobias, and gambling. Sessions are available both in person and via video/online, as needed.

She appreciates the clinic’s central location, free consultation, and weight-loss approach that goes beyond “eat less” nonsense. She says the hypnotherapy feels approachable and practical, especially since it targets behavioural roots.

Do note that Clarity is more rooted in classic suggestion work and hypnoanalysis rather than in a heavily branded, multi-modality programme.

Pros

  • Strong for weight management that goes beyond calorie count
  • Convenient city centre location
  • Offers a complimentary consultation

Cons

  • Single-practitioner setup = more limited slots
  • Leans more toward classic hypnoanalysis than structured models

Customer Reviews

Wish I’d done this years ago!

Wow! Jennifer is truly a miracle worker! I was so sceptical when I decided to try hypnosis to conquer my fear of flying, as nothing else had ever worked. I’m currently on holiday and can hands down say the flight was the calmest and most enjoyable I’ve ever been on! Wish I’d done this years ago! If you’re unsure, like I was – keep an open mind and give it a try! It might just be the best thing you’ve ever done!

The self-doubt has gone

Jennifer really is great at what she does. After going to Jennifer for hypnotherapy, I now feel more confident, and the self-doubt has gone. I would highly recommend Jennifer! She creates such a loving and safe space to allow you to relax and achieve the best from every session.

I have a colleague who needed some help with public speaking without feeling like she was auditioning for a TED Talk against her will. Piece of Mind suited her needs with its offering of confidence work.

Andy Griffiths runs the practice from Carmyle in Glasgow’s east side. His clinic is especially strong for anxiety, phobias, confidence, and unwanted habits, and works both in person and online via Zoom.

He’s not only a clinical hypnotherapist. He’s also a hypnotherapy trainer, so my work pal felt his whole practice had a grounded, professional vibe. He’s also accredited with the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council and CNHC and offers free consultations.

For someone battling presentation nerves, my colleague likes how the approach feels practical rather than mystical. She was offered bespoke treatment plans built around discussion, treatment, and follow-through.

It helps that the key services include anxiety therapy and smoking cessation support, backed by a calm and reassuring therapist with flexible online sessions. However, it’s not a city centre clinic, so the Carmyle location might be less convenient for some clients.

Pros

  • The practitioner is also a hypnotherapy trainer
  • Strong on anxiety, phobias, and confidence-based issues
  • Free consultations
  • Uses NLP alongside hypnotherapy

Cons

  • Not too focused on weight loss management/gastric band work
  • Not city centre-located

Communication before and after the session is really professional

I was a little nervous and took quite a long time to pluck up the courage to initiate contact with Andy at Piece of Mind, and even listened to his podcasts first. I really did not need to be so anxious. Andy is really friendly, approachable and explains everything so clearly, helping me to understand what I need and why. Communication before and after the session is really professional, timely and supportive. If you’re on the fence about making contact, do it. I genuinely wish I had made the step into changing my life a lot sooner.

His insight, understanding, patience and approach were exactly what I needed

I was very anxious and, quite frankly, a bit sceptical about whether Andy would be able to help. I can’t find the right words to say how much of a difference I have noticed in my life after the first session. Andy is so approachable and is the voice of reason when faced with situations that seem impossible to overcome. His insight, understanding, patience and approach were exactly what I needed. I now have a ‘toolbox’ of strategies from Andy that I use in my daily routine. For anyone who feels broken, I urge you to contact Andy.

I have a very shy neighbour who wanted help with her anxiety, but refuses to leave her sofa for it. Good thing she discovered Stait of Mind, which offered her online therapy as well as clinic-based work when she’s feeling up to it.

Headed by Sharon Tait, the practice is linked to Paisley and Greater Glasgow rather than a neat West End postcode, so the online sessions were especially handy. It suited someone like her who cares about remote access more than a city-centre waiting room.

She appreciated how Sharon’s work goes wider than basic script-reading hypnosis. She has more than 11 years of experience, over 13,000 face-to-face clinical hours, and uses NLP as part of a broader skill set.

Since her style is geared more toward confidence, calm, and behavioural change, it made sense for someone like her, dealing with anxiety, low confidence, and the dread of speaking up on camera.

It’s not a polished clinical setup, either, so Sharon’s warmth and compassion came through even more clearly. However, clients who need more flexibility regarding choice of therapists or scheduling may find the small clinic a bit limiting.

Pros

  • Online sessions offered
  • Practitioner has an experience-heavy profile
  • Uses NLP plus broader wellbeing work
  • Offers community-style support and retreats

Cons

  • Small practitioner-led setup = less flexibility for therapist/scheduling choices
  • Not a convenient central Glasgow location

Her calm presence encourages trust and relaxation

Sharon Tate is a truly wonderful woman with a heart of gold. Someone who genuinely wants to help others, whether it’s through her hypnotherapy business or her cold water therapy group. She willingly offers her guidance and a lot of her time for free, which in these economic times is very much appreciated. I first met Sharon during the COVID lockdown, on the banks of Loch Lomond, where she started the Warrior Water Women’s group. Sharon immediately made me feel welcome and put me at ease; her calm presence encourages trust and relaxation, and she has this wonderful ability to just know when life is hard. If you’re struggling with your mental, physical or emotional health, I 100% recommend that you book an appointment and start your healing journey ….. thank you, Sharon, for leading by example.

She creates a nurturing and calm space to meet the needs of each client

Sharon is a wonderful host and hypnotherapist. She has helped me process and understand myself better, both emotionally and physically. She creates a nurturing and calm space to meet the needs of each client or individual. I am truly thankful for all her support.

My daily stress had started acting like an unpaid flatmate, so The Wight Relaxation Room appealed to me because Johan MacIver keeps things structured for me. He has a clinic on West George Street, so I have the option of handy support when I don’t feel like trekking through town.

Johan openly combines hypnotherapy with CBT, so it feels more like practical mind training than incense and guesswork. He also offers a free 20-minute consultation and online Zoom sessions, which is ideal, as I want a concise stress programme that fits my life.

For services, stress and anxiety are his clearest strengths, though he also covers smoking cessation, weight loss, confidence, fears, and public speaking. I particularly like his Hypnotrim for weight loss, and Hypnopatch for smoking,

For me, the big pros here are the free consultation and the CBT blend, which would suit people who want calm with a bit of structure behind it. I’d recommend them to help with de-stressing, building confidence, or getting on top of anxious habits.

That said, the clinic’s branding leans heavily into named programmes and personal coaching styles. These may not suit clients looking for a large, multi-therapist clinic with a more medical feel, and with broader availability across practitioners and schedules.

Pros

  • Blends hypnotherapy with CBT
  • Free 20-minute consultation
  • Online Zoom sessions
  • Over 2 decades of experience across different therapies

Cons

  • Programme and personality-led rather than multi-therapist clinic
  • More packaged than bespoke programmes
