Let’s start with Diplo-Matix Appliances, the shop I called to fix my washing machine. They’re a proper local business that’s been fixing appliances for over 30 years, and there’s no faff as they do straight-up repairs with manufacturer parts.
What I really liked was how they didn’t leave me hanging all day. They gave me a 2-hour time slot and even texted when they were on their way, which was a godsend because waiting around for a mystery repair guy is the worst.
They also do evening appointments, so I didn’t have to skive off work just to sort my problem.
However, one thing that did puzzle me is why they don’t show their official business hours publicly. It could easily put people off, especially since the only weekend availability they mention is Saturday mornings.

One of the best things about them is that they don’t muck about when it comes to washing machine repairs and can fix everything on-site. They’re even willing to sell spare parts for the savvy DIY enthusiast who’s eager to do the repairs on their own.
Another good thing about them is that they can provide ongoing service support for landlords and property managers. This can be useful if you want to avoid last-minute repair scrambles and ensure tenants aren’t left waiting.
That said, I’m disappointed that some of their clients encountered rude behaviour from their repair technicians.

Another seasoned washing machine repair shop I found was Murray Fraser Appliances. They have 40 years of experience and are pretty fair when it comes to prices, as they only charge £45 for repairs, plus the cost of replacement parts if needed.
What’s impressive is that despite their affordable rates, they can offer same-day or next-day repairs to all neighbourhoods in Glasgow. And they give you a 1-year guarantee on repairs, which is a nice wee bonus.
However, it should be noted that they sometimes miss enquiries. They also don’t have a proper online booking system, so you’ll need to ring their phone to sort an appointment.

Now, they’re not the cheapest, and the call-out fees can be a bit steep. Also, they might take up to 48 hours to get to you, depending on how busy they are.
