I’ve been itching to give my flat a wee bit of a makeover, but to be honest, my budget is tighter than a jam-packed bus on Princes Street. I’ve always fancied the look of wooden floors since there’s just something about them that makes a place feel proper cosy, you know?

But since real wood is a tad expensive, I’m opting for laminate flooring instead. It’s got the charm of wood without the hefty price tag, and it won’t have me living off beans on toast for the next year.

I’ve been digging around for decent options and found some good laminate flooring shops in Glasgow, so I thought I’d share to save you the hassle.

How much does laminate flooring cost in Glasgow?

Laminate flooring in Glasgow usually costs around £35 per square metre for materials. That price can change depending on the type and quality of the laminate.

The first laminate flooring shop that caught my attention was The Wooden Floor Store in Hillington. Their selection is quite impressive with classic wood effect laminate, sleek modern designs, and stylish herringbone patterns.

They stock good brands too, like Berry Alloc and Balento Islands, which is why I’m considering buying my laminate flooring here.

Aside from their products, another thing I reckon is pretty useful is their free quote service, as it lets me know the final price immediately without needing to commit.

They’ve also got a price match guarantee, so it’s easy to score some nice deals here.

However, one thing I don’t like is their delivery service. While it’s commendable that they can provide same-day delivery in Glasgow (at an extra cost), their regular delivery option sometimes takes weeks before they can fulfil an order.

Pros

  • Wide variety of laminate flooring options
  • Offers free quotes
  • Has a price match guarantee
  • Can do same-day delivery

Cons

  • Slow regular delivery service
  • Sometimes forgets to respond to enquiries

Really competitive prices

“The most helpful experience at The Wooden Floor Store in Glasgow. Angelina was brilliant and really took the time to talk us through the different options and help us make a decision. Really competitive prices too. Would fully recommend to anyone looking for new flooring. Thanks!”

They have great quality flooring at great prices

“We needed new flooring for four different rooms and Alan the manager spent time explaining all the different options available to us for the different rooms.

They have great quality flooring at great prices with a wide range of choice. All the staff were very knowledgeable and could answer any question we asked. The whole process from start to finish has been easy. There were a couple of issues along the way but all were handled and resolved to our satisfaction.

I would recommend The Wooden Floor Store and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again in the future! Thank you—we love our new flooring!”

After popping into Direct Wood Flooring’s store on Baird Street, I’d say they’re one of my preferred choices for laminate flooring. They’ve got a decent range of styles, including wood effect, parquet, herringbone, and chevron.

One thing that’s very handy is their free measuring service, especially for folks like me who always seem to misjudge measurements. And if you do end up ordering too much, they’ve got you covered with free returns for any leftover packs.

Another positive is their flooring installation service, which comes with a reassuring 12-month warranty. I also like that they offer zero-deposit financing because it allows me to buy flooring without putting too much strain on my budget.

That said, it’s disappointing that they don’t consistently stock all their products. Having to wait or hunt for something specific can be a real hassle.

Pros

  • Offers free measuring
  • Free returns for leftover flooring packs
  • 12-month warranty on flooring installations
  • Offers financing options

Cons

  • Some products aren’t stocked regularly
  • £34.95 delivery fee

Allfloors is a family-run flooring store with two locations in Glasgow. They’ve got a decent selection of laminate flooring from well-known brands like Berry Alloc, Lifestyle Floors, and Balterio.

What I like is they’ll give you a free estimate, so it’s quite easy to figure out if their prices work for you before committing. On top of that, they offer plenty of helpful extras, like flooring installation.

They’ll even handle the hassle of pulling up your old flooring and shifting furniture around for you. That’s a big win if you’re short on time or just don’t fancy doing the job yourself.

However, I’ve heard a few folks mention they had issues with staff being a bit rude during their visit. Hopefully, they’ll work on improving that side of things going forward.

Pros

  • 2 stores in Glasgow
  • Offers free estimates
  • Offers flooring installation services
  • Can remove old flooring and relocate furniture

Cons

  • Some rude staff
  • Limited availability on weekends

Allfloors did a brilliant job on our laminate flooring

Another good option for those who are on a tight budget like me is Tapi Carpets & Floors. They have a good range of laminate flooring styles that includes herringbone, rustic, and even marble.

A key reason why they got my attention is their lengthy product warranties. A lot of their flooring comes with warranties lasting between 10 and 20 years, and some even have a lifetime wear guarantee!

I also appreciate that they offer free measuring and planning so you don’t have to do all that by yourself. And since they offer interest-free credit, it’s quite easy for me to purchase their products without putting too much strain on my wallet.

The downside, though, is that you can’t place orders online. Honestly, it’s a bit of a pain for me since I love the convenience of online shopping.

Pros

  • Wide variety of laminate flooring options
  • Lengthy product warranties
  • Offers free measuring and planning
  • Has interest-free financing options

Cons

  • No option for online ordering
  • Inconsistent operating hours

Excellent service from Tapi Carpets

“Excellent service from Tapi Carpets. They were recommended to us by our son who had a good experience. Friendly, helpful staff in the shop and the fitters were terrific. Very quick and efficient and they tidied away after themselves. Prices on a par with other outlets.”

Good quality and an excellent price

“Gentleman in The Great Western Retail Store, Glasgow was very helpful and took time to discuss and advise on the best type of vinyl flooring to suit my needs. Bought two ends that suited perfectly, were good quality and an excellent price. Vinyl was fitted by Tapi’s fitters who did an excellent job and would certainly recommend.”

Partnership Flooring has been in Glasgow for over 30 years. They offer a wide range of laminate flooring styles like wood effect, herringbone, and black slate from reliable brands like Balterio and Egger.

The thing that really stands out about them, though, is how easy they make the whole process. If, like me, you’re clueless about interior design, their free expert advice can be a huge help. They even offer a free home survey to check out your space and make tailored recommendations!

Oh, and they also provide restoration and maintenance services, which is good if you’re attached to your old flooring and want to give it a refresh instead of ripping it out.

Sadly, their prices are a bit on the higher side. It might be wise to consider other options first, especially if your budget is tight.

Pros

  • Wide variety of laminate flooring options
  • Offers free expert design
  • Offers free home surveys
  • Provides floor restoration and maintenance

Cons

  • Slightly above-average prices
  • Closed on Sundays
