Enjoy the finest cuts at the best steakhouses in Glasgow!
A good steak never disappoints. The smell when it’s on the grill, the char on the outside, and that melt-in-your-mouth bite when it’s cooked just right. Whether it’s a big ribeye or a soft fillet, it always feels like a proper treat.
I’ve spent months trying out steakhouses all over Glasgow. If a new place opens, chances are I’ve been in for a taste. From the old favourites to the spots putting their own twist on things, I’ve given plenty a go.
Now, I’m sharing some of the best steakhouses I’ve tried across the city, so you can get stuck in and enjoy them yourself.

The Merchant Steakhouse has become one of my favourite spots for a proper steak night. The setting mixes old Glasgow charm with a modern touch. There’s warm lighting, wooden tables, and leather chairs creating a cosy and welcoming vibe.
What keeps me coming back is the way they prepare their steaks. Each cut is dry-aged for up to 80 days, which gives the meat a depth of flavour that really stands out. Out of all I’ve tried, The Chateaubriand is the one I always recommend.
This cut comes from the thickest part of the tenderloin and is dry-aged for at least 30 days. It’s tender, rich, and served as a sharing cut, making it great for a relaxed dinner with friends. Pair it with a glass of red, and you’re set!
Pro tip: If you fancy trying their popular long bone Tomahawk, make sure you book in for a Tuesday. They run Tomahawk Tuesdays, where the sharing cut is at half price, which makes it one of the best value steak nights in the city.

Operating hours:
12:00 PM – 11:00 PM (SUN-THURS)
12:00 PM – 12:00 AM (FRI and SAT)
I have to admit, a visit to The Spanish Butcher can leave my wallet feeling lighter, but the steaks are far too good to resist. I’ve only been here a handful of times, yet every visit has been memorable.
As the name suggests, their menu blends Spanish and Mediterranean flavours, making it a good choice if you want to try something a bit different. My top pick is the Galician blond beef, sourced from older cattle in northern Spain.
It’s dry-aged to develop a deep, nutty flavour that sets it apart from the usual cuts. The portions are generous, the marbling is beautiful, and when it arrives at the table, it feels like a proper treat.
Pro tip: Sign up for The Spanish Butcher’s Spanish Club. It’s free to join and gives you early access to special menus, events, and the chance to hear about limited cuts before they sell out.

If you want to keep things simple, one of the best spots I recommend is Meat Joint Scottish Steakhouse. It’s a fine dining restaurant (one of the many excellent ones in Glasgow) with a setup that feels both relaxed and elegant, making it a good choice for first dates or a catch-up with friends.
The highlight of their menu is the way it celebrates Scottish beef, with cuts like fillet, sirloin, tomahawk, and chateaubriand. The meats are locally sourced and dry-aged for at least a month, which gives them a depth of flavour and quality you can taste.
Whenever my friends and I visit, we usually go for their Côte de Boeuf. It’s a generous sharing steak, cooked perfectly to bring out the flavour of the Aberdeen Angus beef. Its peppercorn sauce adds a touch of spice to its savoury richness.
Pro tip: Meat Joint Scottish Steakhouse’s gift vouchers make an easy win if you’re stuck for a present. You can buy them online, personalise the message, and choose whether to have them emailed instantly or sent by post in a smart wallet.
If you order before two in the afternoon on a weekday, postal vouchers are sent out the same day, which is handy if you have left things a little late.

Another spot that’s all about celebrating Scottish produce is Mini Grill Steakhouse. Located on Bath Street, this small yet elegant restaurant has a homely interior that feels much like every proper family home in the city.
That welcoming vibe is exactly why I enjoy coming here. You won’t be distracted by loud chatter or background noise, which makes it easy to focus on their ribeye, sirloin, and tomahawk steaks in peace.
My usual choice is the fillet steak, cooked rare. It always arrives seared on the outside and juicy inside, with that melt-in-the-mouth texture that makes you savour every bite. I often pair it with their blue cheese sauce to add a bit of tanginess to it.
Pro tip: Mini Grill Steakhouse is a cosy spot with limited seating, so tables fill up quickly, especially on weekends and holidays. If you want to guarantee your preferred time, book a table online a week or two in advance.

If there’s one thing Argentina is known for, it’s beef. The cattle are grass-fed, and the meat is famous for being tender and full of flavour. That’s why Gaucho, a steakhouse that sources all its beef from Argentina, has become one of my top picks in Glasgow.
Their menu offers a strong lineup of steaks, including ribeye, sirloin, fillet, and chorizo steak. The cut I keep returning to is the Argentinian rump. It’s the leanest option, which makes it a good choice when I want to keep an eye on calories.
I like it cooked medium rare, as it brings out a bold flavour and a satisfying texture that shows off the quality of the beef. Add a spoonful of chimichurri and a glass of Malbec, and it becomes a dish that’s both rich and zesty.
Pro tip: If you’re heading to Gaucho and want to bring your dog along, mention it when you book. The staff are happy to set you up with water bowls and a comfortable spot so both you and your pup can relax.
It’s a smart way to enjoy a proper steak night without worrying about leaving your four-legged friend at home.

As a steak enthusiast, I’m always on the lookout for new takes on this classic dish. Glasgow has a few places that never disappoint, and Miller & Carter on St Vincent Street is one of them.
Their steaks are aged for at least 30 days, giving them the depth of flavour and tenderness that steak fans know and love. Their menu features ribeye, sirloin, chateaubriand, and more, each served with their signature lettuce wedge.
The dish that won me over is their Surf and Turf Fillet. The fillet is beautifully tender, cooked just right to keep the meat juicy and soft, and it comes paired with plump prawns that bring a little indulgence to the plate.
Pro tip: If you’re planning to become a regular at Miller & Carter, joining the Masters of Steak Club is well worth it. You earn points every time you order a steak, and those points unlock rewards like free cocktails, birthday treats, and even a bottle of Moët once you hit the higher tiers.

Remember The Spanish Butcher? Turns out The Butchershop on Sauchiehall Street is run by the same folks, but this time the focus is on grass-fed Scottish cattle, perfect if you want to enjoy something more local.
What I like most is the atmosphere. It has that lively energy you’d expect from a classy Manhattan steakhouse, yet it also offers wonderful views of Kelvingrove Park that make the setting feel uniquely Glasgow.
I’ve only been here twice so far, but the Côte de Boeuf has already won me over. Served medium rare, it arrives with a charred crust and juicy centre that gives it a memorable flavour. Pair it with one of their signature cocktails for an iconic night!
Pro tip: If you’re looking to save on a steak night, head to The Butchershop for Tomahawk Thursdays. For £95, you can enjoy a cut large enough for two people, served with two sauces, two sides, and a bottle of red or white wine.
However, availability is limited, so booking ahead is recommended.
Porter & Rye

Address: 1131 Argyle St, Finnieston
Contact details: +44 141 572 1212
Operating hours: 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM (MON-SUN)
Porter & Rye in Finnieston has earned its place among Glasgow’s top steakhouses, even making it onto the list of the world’s best (Daily Record). Curious to see what the fuss was about, I went along for a quick dinner with friends visiting from London.
I discovered their beef is dry-aged in-house for up to 160 days! The process allows the natural enzymes to break down the fibres and reduce the moisture, creating a flavour that’s far more intense.
For my first visit, I decided to keep it simple and chose the Bavette cut cooked medium rare. It turned out to be a real highlight, delivering a bold and beefy taste with a tenderness that made every bite melt in my mouth.
Pro tip: Porter & Rye run seasonal promotions that are worth keeping an eye on. Their offers often include set menus, steak and wine pairings, and limited-time dining packages that let you enjoy their dry-aged beef at a lower price.
These promotions change throughout the year, so it pays to check this website before booking.
Tiffney’s, The Glasgow Steakhouse

Address: 61 Otago St
Contact details: +44 141 328 9557
Operating hours: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM (WED-SUN)
One of the most memorable steakhouses I’ve visited is Tiffney’s, The Glasgow Steakhouse. They have a real obsession with quality and follow a careful process to prepare their steaks.
They begin by hand-selecting Scottish prime beef from the North East and Speyside. The beef is then aged in their own humidity-controlled locker for more than 70 days. This long process creates meat that’s rich, tender, and full of flavour.
The best way to appreciate this is by ordering their Extra Matured Fillet. It’s aged far longer than their standard cuts, giving it a juicier texture and a buttery tenderness. The flavour develops into something more caramelised, making it a truly unique dish.
Pro tip: Tiffney’s gift vouchers are available to buy online and can be downloaded instantly, which makes them a handy option for last-minute presents. You can choose the value that suits you, starting from smaller amounts right up to full dining experiences.
Just remember that vouchers need to be validated in advance when booking, so always provide the voucher number at the time of reservation.
