Turn Your Puppy from Scruffy to Fluffy with the 5 Best Pet Grooming Salons in Glasgow

  • Proper qualifications - We looked for groomers with City Guilds Level 3 or iPet Network 3 certifications, since that gives us more confidence in their handling and grooming standards.
  • Low-stress care - Cage-free drying, gentle handling, and good options for nervous, senior, or rescue pets matter a lot.
  • Thoughtful services - Extras like Puppy University packages, hand-stripping, de-shedding, and natural, non-toxic products would tell us when the salon goes beyond the basics.
  • Clear value and reviews - We checked for transparent pricing, and if current client feedback consistently mentions the salon’s reliability, patience, and results.

My Labrador Archie treats mud like a personality trait, so a good pet grooming service in Glasgow isn’t a luxury in my house. It’s basic survival for my floors, my car seats, and everyone’s sense of smell!

Archie goes to good boarding kennels in Glasgow, which, unfortunately, don’t often have grooming on the menu. For the latter, I want cage-free spaces, calm one-on-one sessions, and groomers who know how to keep anxious pets from spiralling.

That’s the kind of service I’m looking for for my very spoiled Lab, so this review looks at Glasgow pet groomers that balance skill, wellness-first treatments, and nervous-pet handling.

How much does pet grooming in Glasgow cost?

In Glasgow, pet grooming usually starts at around £35 to £45 for a small dog’s full groom, while a simple bath and dry is often £25 to £30. Medium dogs can cost £45 to £58, while large or giant breeds like Retrievers can range from £65 to over £150 (especially if the coat is thick, matted, or needs more time).
Puppy intro sessions are often £20 to £35, while add-ons like teeth cleaning start at £35. Small extras like nail clipping can cost from £8 to £15.
For cats, a basic groom is usually £45 to £54 for short-haired breeds, and £70 to £85 for long-haired cats.
Do note that many Glasgow groomers can give around 10% off if you book regular maintenance visits every 6 to 8 weeks.

If only the best dog trainers in Glasgow could also teach Archie to bathe himself after a mud-swim, but alas, it isn’t so. He’s a hyperactive Labrador needing regular full-time grooming, so I’m not about to have him wreak havoc on a poor unsuspecting salon with his shedding and slobber!

That’s why I appreciated how Pampered Paws doesn’t rush dogs straight onto the table. Their free consults and familiarisation visits feel like a smart touch, especially for owners like me who want their pets settled in before the clippers come out.

I also liked that the place has proper substance behind the polished name. With experienced groomers and an iPet Network Level 3 in Dog Grooming and Salon Management, it feels more like a centre run by people who actually understand dogs.

I instantly got the impression that they’re honest about what your dog needs, and price the level of care accordingly. For Labs like Archie, their bath, de-shed, and full groom options make practical sense.

Their Garscadden Road location is handy enough if you’re on the west side, and I’d recommend this place most to owners of nervous dogs or pets who need a gentler start.

That said, it’s an appointment-based setup, so it’s not the sort of place to rush into at the last minute if your pooch happens to suddenly roll into something smelly or filthy.

Pros

  • Free consults and familiarisation visits
  • Qualified team with iPET level 3 diplomas
  • Familiar with older, anxious, and behaviourally sensitive dogs
  • Full services for bigger, double-coated breeds

Cons

  • Appointment-only setup
  • Limited opening days

He always comes out looking amazing and smelling lush!

Been using Pampered Paws since I got my puppy! He is normally very anxious and cries or barks when I leave him, but when I leave him at Pampered Paws, he is absolutely fine and actually loves going! The girls are just amazing with him; he always comes out looking amazing and smelling lush! Girls are so nice and always really helpful! Would 100% recommend.

It’s easy to explain what you want

Not telling others doesn’t want them to get so busy. These fantastic groomers can’t fit my bichón freeze, can’t get an appointment. They are so nice, and it’s easy to explain what you want. My baby comes out exactly perfectly done the way I want him to look. Also, he jumps in with absolutely no fuss and loves it. So please don’t go, don’t make an appointment. My baby needs his amazing groom from these professional girls.

My sister was fed up with dog-first salons that act like cats are awkward add-ons, so she was ecstatic when she discovered Charlie’s Perfect Paws.

They clearly make room for feline clients, with dedicated cat grooming on the menu. It was recommended to her by several cat owner-friends who claim that the groomers there really “get” cats.

She found it more than a basic wash-and-go setup; they offer cat grooming, cat shave-downs, kittens’ first grooms, and even Emmi-Pet ultrasonic teeth cleaning. Even with all the spa feel, she said the prices felt fair (though not cheap!). Cat grooming starts at £65, and a kitten’s first groom is £35.

Being on the Nithsdale Road makes it convenient, too, especially since she lives around Shawlands and doesn’t fancy a cross-city trek with an annoyed cat in a carrier.

She now recommends Charlie’s Perfect Paws to feline furparents, rescue-pet households, and anyone with a nervous animal needing a calmer pair of hands.

The downside is that it’s a boutique-style service with specialist extras, so if you want the cheapest, no-frills pet grooming in Glasgow, this is probably not the lane for that.

Pros

  • Properly cat-friendly menu
  • Southside convenience
  • More spa-style add-ons
  • Skilled with cats and nervous older pets

Cons

  • Leans more boutique than basic
  • Cat grooming isn’t the cheapest

This is a beautiful, clean shop

A massive thank you to Charlie and Lisa for making Vinny look so handsome. This is a beautiful, clean shop and the staff know exactly what they’re doing. I’m very pleased with the service and price.

His coat is super clean and smells amazing

Recently got our pumpkin groomed at Charlie’s Perfect Paws. It was hard to find a decent cat groomer as they are hard to come by, but we felt like we struck gold with the first one we chose. Nice little shop, very clean and tidy and the 2 ladies I dealt with when I walked in were very friendly and attentive to my cat the minute I brought him in! (He tends to get scared of new people) I am extremely happy with how the grooming service has turned out. His coat is super clean and smells amazing, and it looks so much better than it did before. Will definitely be using the service again.

My next-door neighbour’s new puppy has the attention span of a fizzy drink, so Bark & Bath’s Puppy University made sense to her straightaway. It’s built as a gradual introduction to grooming, which feels smarter than making a small dog nervous.

She liked how they lean into proper puppy prep and not treating it like a token add-on. They also offer extras like Emmi-Pet teeth cleaning, spa upgrades, and mud baths, so her pooch isn’t treated like furry clients by a clip-and-go groomer.

According to her, the Puppy University pricing looks fair for a structured multi-visit package. It starts at around £100 for extra-small pups, and she said it’s reasonable at preventing her precious dog from treating every brush like a personal attack.

She finds the Cathcart Road handy for someone from the Southside, too. My neighbour now recommends Bark & Bath to first-time puppy owners, nervous young dogs, and anyone who wants grooming to be taught gently instead of being done dramatically.

However, the full grooming prices aren’t laid out online as clearly as the puppy package. They also require a deposit for new customers and have a fairly firm cancellation policy (which is sensible for them, but slightly less fun for chaotic pet owners).

Pros

  • Structured Puppy University
  • Useful for different coat types
  • Strong wellness-style extras
  • Open 5 days a week

Cons

  • Deposit-based booking
  • No weekend hours

My dog was so well groomed!

I took my Shih Tzu puppy for his first grooming to Bark &Bath after being recommended these groomers by a fellow Shih Tzu owner I met on a doggie walk. Her dog was beautifully groomed, so although they are not at all local, this is where I decided to take six months old Maxi. The lady who was “front of house” was excellent at dealing with a very timid pup. When I went back to collect him, he was unrecognisable, but in a fantastic way! So well groomed, but also so happy being there. He obviously thought they had done a great job because he knew he looked gorgeous! Thank you so much, All at Bath and Bark. (I’ve posted a photo on your website, hope that’s OK).

Well coordinated so that no other dogs are present at arrival

Never going anywhere else! Best experience I’ve had at the groomers. Well coordinated so that no other dogs are present at arrival. Warm welcome and toys available for dogs to calm them down and make them comfortable. Lovely and kind staff. Love that they attached a wee ribbon on my dog’s harness as a wee gift. 10/5 experience! Thank you, Hannah, for looking after my dog!

The rambunctious Bernese mountain dog that my colleague brings to work sheds like crazy, so we decided to pitch in and have him go through a Cast-Off session at Wizard of PAWS.

Fret not; they weren’t going to cast him off like used clothing. The session is built specifically for reducing loose fur around the house (or workplace), which is useful when an adorable but sheddy fluff machine is on the loose.

The Cast-Off service best suits big coated breeds that need regular maintenance over occasional panic-bookings. The pricing is quote-based (not published), which I find slightly inconvenient, but my work pal says it’s fair enough for his dog’s breed, coat condition, and temperament.

Wizard of PAWS has been around since 2005. It offers grooming in a modern and stress-free environment, and doubles as a proper one-stop dog hub with training, a self-service dog wash, and a well-stocked shop.

I’d recommend it to owners who want more than a quick tidy and like having training, retail, and grooming in one place. It’s especially sensible for heavy shedders, first-time dog owners, and those who want a complimentary puppy session to test the waters.

Then again, there’s no published price list, so you’ll need to phone ahead or enquire directly before committing. Also, nail clipping isn’t a standalone service, and new grooming clients have to pay in full in advance for the first full groom.

Pros

  • Cast-Off sessions ideal for mega-shedding dogs
  • Also offers training, a pet shop, and a self-service dog wash
  • Initial consultations are built in
  • Since 2005

Cons

  • Pricing is fully quote-based
  • Very canine-focused
  • First-time full grooms have to pay in advance
  • Clipping isn’t a standalone service

Gave my 11-month-old Lab a good wash

Staff friendly and helpful. Gave my 11-month-old Lab a good wash. Just turn up and get a space, no need to take anything, all included. £16 for 30min plenty of time. No more hassle in the house with towels to wash and dry. Very happy.

Can’t recommend Wizard of Paws enough!

Can’t recommend Wizard of Paws enough! Vinny completed his puppy training here and goes back to get groomed, and loves every minute of it. They’re always so friendly and happy to help with any queries we have, and always go above and beyond.

I have a friend who owns a French poodle with better hair standards than most people I know. Elite Dog Spa is where she takes the precious little pooch for some pampering, of course.

The place emphasises the luxury angle with spa treatments, grooming, and services that fit a dog’s social calendar. Thankfully, the luxury pitch is backed by actual branding and not just fluff (or ruff?).

They’ve won the Best Dog Groomers Scotland 2020 and Best Dog Groomers Glasgow 2020 awards, which explains why image-conscious fur parents keep coming back. For a pampered poodle, the appeal is obvious: the ambience is definitely a sophisticated boutique.

Surprisingly, prices start at just £25. It’s not bargain-bin cheap, but for a luxury-focused salon with strong reviews and multiple Glasgow area locations, it reads as fair value rather than silly money burning.

The West End location makes sense for those in or near the Bishopbriggs area and is convenient enough to make a dog’s beauty routine a regular commitment. They’re a great fit for poodles, doodles, and other high-maintenance coat types needing premium grooming experience.

That said, it’s very dog-focused, so it’s not a place I would send someone hoping for mixed-pet grooming or specialist cat handling.

Pros

  • Luxury spa positioning
  • Doggy day care (West End branch)
  • Two Glasgow locations

Cons

  • Very dog-focused in branding and services
  • Luxury angle may be too much for practical owners

What an awesome groomer

What an awesome groomer. They are amazing with your fur babies and take all the information you have to give them very seriously. Bruno will definitely be back at Elite next time.

He’s looking tidy and clean

Lovely young woman and made his first experience a truly happy one. They didn’t force him when he didn’t like the cut around his face area, but hopefully, in time, he will allow this. He’s looking tidy, clean, and apart. Before and after pics added. Thank you, girls, he will definitely be coming back.
