The Best Korean BBQs in Glasgow You’ll Surely Leave with a Full Belly!

I’ve been deep into a K-drama binge on Netflix lately, and one thing that keeps popping up is the classic dinner scene. You know the one—friends gathered around a grill, laughing, sharing stories, and cooking up juicy cuts of meat right at the table.

It always looks like the perfect mix of food and fun. Inspired by those scenes, my friends and I decided to chase that same energy here in Glasgow, hopping from one Korean BBQ spot to another.

And because the experience really does live up to the hype, I’ve made a guide to the best local Korean BBQs so you can join in on the fun too!

Seoul Korean BBQ

Address: 24 Cambridge St

Contact details: +44 141 332 1591

Operating hours:

12:00 PM – 10:00 PM (SUN-THURS)

12:00 PM – 10:30 PM (FRI and SAT)

My friends and I often stop by Seoul Korean BBQ whenever we are craving that grilled goodness. It sits on Cambridge Street, just west of Merchant City, so it’s easy to drop in after a bit of shopping.

The vibe is another reason we keep coming back. The place has modern and stylish decor, with leather seats that keep us comfortable while we enjoy the meal. Also, their BBQ options are varied, including beef bulgogi, spicy pork, and ox tongue.

Furthermore, there are seafood choices like prawns and scallops along with fresh vegetables, so there’s always something new to try. Having this many options is exactly why we never get tired of visiting this restaurant.

Pro tip: Seoul Korean BBQ offers free WiFi if you want to share photos of your feast or quickly check messages while dining. To connect, simply look at the drinks menu, where the WiFi name and password are listed.

Jay’s BBQ Bar

Address: 55 Bath St

Contact details: +44 7355 668888

Operating hours:

4:00 PM – 9:00 PM (MON-FRI)

12:00 PM – 9:00 PM (SAT and SUN)

Another Korean BBQ spot that’s close to Merchant City is Jay’s BBQ Bar. We enjoy dining here after sunset, especially since it’s near the Buchanan Street subway station, which makes heading home with full bellies much easier.

Their BBQ spread is reliable, with beef, pork, and lamb that pair well with the sauces they serve. If it’s your first visit, I recommend trying the dry chilli sauce. It has a moderate kick and adds great flavour to freshly grilled meat.

They also serve seafood such as prawns and scallops, along with hotpot broths like mushroom or spicy mala if you want something warming. On nights when I’m not grilling, I’ve ordered their fried chicken and bibimbap, and both are worth it.

Pro tip: Jay’s BBQ Bar has an online reservation system that makes booking a table quick and stress-free. It’s best to book ahead, especially if you’re planning to go in the evening or on weekends when it gets busy.

The system lets you choose your preferred time and group size, and you’ll get confirmation right away.

Bibimbap

Address: 3 W Nile St

Contact details: +44 141 221 1314

Operating hours:

12:00 PM – 10:00 PM (SUN-THURS)

12:00 PM – 11:00 PM (FRI and SAT)

Bibimbap always has a party vibe that makes it easy to spend time here with friends. Whenever we walk in, there’s upbeat music, bright lights, and colourful decor that make the whole place lively without feeling overdone.

Although they’re best known for their bibimbap bowls, they also serve a solid range of BBQ options. We usually go for the pork belly slices, galbi short ribs, and spicy pork neck.

The meats are even better when paired with sides like lettuce, green onion salad, and soybean paste stew. We often add soju cocktails to the mix, which makes the Korean BBQ experience feel complete.

Pro tip: Just like these local venues, Bibimbap often hosts live music nights that add to the lively atmosphere. The easiest way to find out about them in advance is by checking their Facebook and Instagram pages, where they share updates on upcoming performances and events.

Ssamm Korean BBQ

Address: 118A Blythswood St

Contact details: +44 141 221 5673

Operating hours: 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM (TUES-SUN)

Ssamm Korean BBQ is one of my favourites simply because it feels so authentic. The place has that classic K-drama BBQ vibe with booth seats, warm lighting, charcoal grills, and exhaust pipes that take away the smoke.

I also like how generous their BBQ options are, with favourites like pork belly, galbi short ribs, and spicy cuts that taste even better wrapped in lettuce with banchan on the side.

Of course, they also have a solid drinks menu to make your BBQ dinner with friends a bit more fun. You can choose from red wine, white wine, soju, and some creative cocktails if you want to try something different.

Pro tip: Ssamm Korean BBQ offers a set menu you can enjoy if you want to sample a variety of meats without ordering each one separately. The most affordable option costs £40 and includes three different meats, which is enough for one or two people.

For larger groups, their £99.50 option is a good choice. It comes with eight meats and is designed to be shared by up to four people.

Sizzle Hotpot & BBQ Buffet

Address: 2 Partick Bridge St

Contact details: +44 141 334 3030

Operating hours:

12:00 PM – 9:30 PM (SUN-THURS)

12:00 PM – 10:30 PM (FRI and SAT)

Sizzle Hotpot & BBQ Buffet is close to the University of Glasgow, so students might want to take note. It’s not one of my go-to spots, but I usually make the effort to stop by whenever I’m in the area because they’re an affordable option for Korean BBQ.

That’s because this restaurant works as a buffet, so you pay a set fee and then help yourself to as much as you like. The last time I checked, it was £27.99 per person, which is good value for the amount on offer.

Their Korean BBQ options include pork belly, beef short ribs, and chicken, all served with fresh vegetables to keep things varied. And as their name suggests, they also have hotpot choices with broths and plenty of ingredients to cook at the table.

Pro tip: Don’t forget that Sizzle Hotpot and BBQ Buffet has a £5 charge if your table leaves more than 200 grams of food uneaten. The best way to avoid this is to start small and refill your plate gradually instead of piling everything on at once.

If it’s your first visit, it might be wise to skip the extras for now and focus on the meat cuts first to make sure you get the best value from the buffet.

Silla Korean Restaurant

Website: https://www.sillakoreanrestaurant.co.uk/

Address: 1138 Argyle St, Finnieston

Contact details: +44 7768 857447

Operating hours: 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM (MON-SAT)

The idea of grilling meat yourself while already eating in a restaurant may not appeal to everyone, which is why I’m glad that restaurants like Silla Korean Restaurant exist.

They don’t operate as a BBQ grill-at-the-table spot like Ssamm or Sizzle. Instead, their menu highlights grilled Korean dishes that are prepared in the kitchen, so you can simply sit back and wait for your food to arrive.

One of my favourite BBQ dishes here is the dak yang nyum gui, which is grilled chicken served with a hot and sweet sauce. It has a gentle kick that pairs beautifully with the tangy salad on the side.

Pro tip: Since Silla Korean Restaurant is walk-in only, you can’t book a reservation ahead to secure a table during peak dining hours. A good idea is to arrive around 5 PM to avoid the long queues and wait times that usually build up between 6 PM and 8 PM, especially on weekends.

Namu Korean Kitchen

Address: 321 Hope St

Contact details: +44 7960 903834

Operating hours:

5:00 PM – 9:30 PM (MON-THURS)

5:00 PM – 10:00 PM (FRI)

12:00 PM – 10:00 PM (SAT)

Another restaurant where you can dive straight into enjoying delicious Korean BBQ dishes is Namu Korean Kitchen. Since it sits right in the middle of the city, it’s often the place I choose when I’m not in the mood to grill meat myself.

Their menu features plenty of Korean favourites such as bibimbap, rice cakes, and noodle dishes like pork jajangmyeon and japchae. If you’re focused on BBQ options, I recommend ordering the sam gyeop sal.

This is grilled pork belly served with lettuce, garlic, and chilli. It also comes with ssamjang sauce, giving you a feast that delivers a lively kick. Pairing it with their melon soda is a smart move to balance the spice.

Pro tip: Namu Korean Kitchen has a two-course meal for £14.95. You pick a starter and a main from their menu, which usually includes dumplings, bibimbap, and sam gyeop sal. It’s a straightforward way to try different dishes at a fixed price and works out cheaper than ordering separately.
