5 Best Hair Salons in Glasgow for Style and Sustainability

  • Real technical skill - We looked for senior stylists, colour specialists, and ongoing training like Sassoon, Keune, balayage, or colour-correction expertise.
  • Proper consultation first - A good salon should check hair history, goals, budget, and patch-test results before touching the bleach bowl.
  • Quality, ethical products - Bonus points for vegan, sustainable, cruelty-free, or bond-building ranges that protect hair instead of just making it look good for one day.
  • Results that last nicely - We checked current reviews and client feedback for colour longevity, friendly service, inclusivity, and those little luxe extras like scalp rituals or Japanese head spas.

For my nails and brows, I’m loyal to my chosen beauty salon in Glasgow. However, when it comes to my rebellious hair, I don’t want to gamble with scissors in any random place.

Glasgow has enough colourists, curl whisperers, and blow-dry magicians to make salon-hopping feel strategic. So if you’re looking for a colour rescue, a big restyle, or a glossy makeover, these are the best hair salons in Glasgow worth booking.

How much does a hair salon in Glasgow charge?

In Glasgow, a ladies’ cut and finish usually costs £40 to £85, while a blow dry costs around £30 to £55. Apprentice or student cuts can be cheaper at £20 to £35.
Colour work costs more. Expect to pay £70 to £110 for full colour, and £130 to over £220 for highlights or balayage.
Luxury treatments, bond-builders, and head spa add-ons usually add £25 to £80, with final quotes confirmed after a consultation and patch test.

I went to 281 Hair for the free consultation, mostly because my coarse hair needs a plan. Their city-centre team handles modern cuts, bespoke colour, and colour correction, with recognised products like L’Oréal Professionnel, Milkshake, Olaplex, and Wella.

They didn’t rush straight to the scissors or reach for bleach when they saw me, which I appreciated. Their consultation helped match the treatments to my hair needs (exactly what my difficult, thick, and over-processed hair deserves).

I found them practical to book, too. They have online appointments available 24/7, and students get weekly discounts, and new customers may find a first-visit cut-and-blow-dry offer through the booking page.

The prices are reasonable for a Glasgow city-centre salon, especially if you need a technical colour work rather than a basic tidy-up. I’d recommend 281 Hair to anyone who needs colour correction, a restyle, or proper product-backed help for stubborn hair.

That said, prices can also change depending on your hair, so I’d confirm the final quote during consultation before committing. Those looking for eco-friendly or vegan hair products may also want to enquire closely, as it’s not easily verified online.

Pros

  • Free consultation
  • Uses recognised salon brands
  • Offers student discounts
  • Good city-centre location

Cons

  • Final pricing may vary after consultation
  • Non-standard business hours may be confusing

I trusted her fully, and the result was fantastic

Beth is fantastic. I came to do a root touch-up, and she matched my previous hair highlights perfectly and accompanied it with a subtle balayage to make the whole thing blend naturally. I trusted her fully, and the result was fantastic – she knows what she’s doing. I’ll be back soon. I can’t recommend her enough!

Very pleased with the whole experience

Visited the salon yesterday for the first time and was very pleased with the whole experience. Abbie was spot on with the colour I was having in mind for toner refresh; she accommodated all my queries and did exactly what I was looking for. Very kind and friendly staff. Will definitely visit again. The prices are so reasonable, which was also very important to me and good for me.

My niece wanted to experience the TONI&Guy Glasgow experience without sacrificing her student budget to the hair gods. Luckily, the salon offers a 10% student discount Monday to Wednesday on selected services and stylists, making it less scary to book for her.

This St Vincent Street hair salon has been around since 1995, so it has proper Glasgow staying power. She likes that the team leans on expert consultations, wearable trend-led cuts, and technical colour advice instead of weird, gimmicky tricks for the ‘gram.

It’s a good fit for students, first-job professionals, and anyone who wants a polished cut or colour from a globally recognised salon group. TONI&GUY also highlights its wider brand expertise in precision cutting, colour, blow dries, styling, extensions, and treatment options.

The prices are admittedly not bargain-basement, but they feel reasonable if you book smartly, use the student discount, and choose the right stylist level. I’d recommend this salon for anyone who wants a safer first “proper salon” experience with strong consultation.

Do note that the student discounts are limited to selected weekdays, services, and stylists. It may also suit classic cut-and-colour polish rather than niche wellness hair ritual-seekers.

Pros

  • 10% discount for students on select weekdays
  • Long-running Glasgow branch
  • Good for tend-led cuts
  • Global training for stylists

Cons

  • Not the cheapest option to book senior-level stylists
  • Less focused on niche hair spa treatments

I always leave here looking well-styled

Always made to feel so welcome by everyone, even when busy. My stylist is such a nice, grounded, authentic person, chatty but not intrusive. Always leave looking well-styled and with a healthy shine.

The salon was very clean and smelled great

I was torn between a few short hair looks, and Peggy helped me go over which one would look best on me while still putting importance on the elements that I liked from each picture. Peggy was such a joy to talk to as well, and the finished product was so neat, cute and what I envisioned. Other than that, the salon was very clean, smelled great, and the staff were all very friendly.

Mum treats her hair appointments like mini spa holidays, so Bloom Salon had her at the complimentary head, neck, and shoulder massage she gets when they wash her hair.

She finds the Princess Square location polished but not stiff, with consultations, colour work, cuts, smoothing, extensions, and beauty services under one roof.

It’s the extras that make it feel more spa-like for her: hot towels, treatment add-ons, and scalp-focused rituals. Their menu includes shine treatments, derma scalp treatments, colour, balayage, highlights, and a free patch test.

Bloom also promotes a £20 first-visit hair colour saving and uses brands like Kerastase, Davines, Keune, and GLOWWA. Small wonder mums, colour regulars, and anyone who wants a soothing salon experience flock to this place.

Mum finds the prices reasonable for a city-centre salon with the pamper factor she likes. Women’s haircuts start at £40, and treatments are around £55, so she recommends it to her friends for colour, condition, and calm appointments.

However, some discounts may be first-visit or platform-specific. I’d confirm the final price and offer details first before booking.

Pros

  • Complementary neck and shoulder massages
  • Handy location
  • Good mix of hair colour, smoothing, and extensions
  • First-colour savings

Cons

  • The menu may be overwhelming for those wanting a simple trim
  • Some promos apply to new guests/specific bookings only

I couldn’t be any happier with the results

First visit, asked to be transformed for a new chapter in my life. Kamil did much more than I expected! New colour, style and me! Family reaction was amazing and said it all! They said I look so different but look so good! Kamil explained what he was proposing on the consultation visit and remembered everything he said when I returned weeks later for my appointment. I couldn’t be any happier with the results.

All the staff were so attentive and friendly

I happened to decide while shopping in Glasgow, to try my luck and get an appt in Bloom, Princess Square. I was extremely fortunate as it was busy. My experience from start to finish was beyond perfect! All the staff were so attentive and friendly. The young girl who looked after me during hair washing also provided a beautiful neck and shoulder massage. Martin, my stylist, provided a thorough consultation, advised appropriately and took time to ensure the result was to my satisfaction and absolute delight! I have already booked my next appt and can highly recommend you guys out there to try this fantastic salon.

My teammate wanted a proper male perm, not a surprise ramen fringe situation. Paul Allen Hair & Beauty ended his quest with their gents’ perms from £55, while ladies’ perms with cut and finish start from £70.

The salon has been around for decades, bringing over 30 years of hair industry experience. Their team also highlights ongoing training, colour correction, hair extensions, beauty services, and retail products for maintaining the look at home.

It’s a good fit for men wanting texture, curls, or a less boring haircut, plus anyone needing balayage, bleach work, or correction. Location-wise, it’s near Partick Station, so it’s a quick commute for my pal after our practices.

For a specialist perming in a West End salon with experienced hands, he finds the prices reasonable. He now recommends it to students, gents trying curls for the first time, or anyone who wants a practical consultation before committing.

He warns that some discount details appear on older listings, though. It would be wise to confirm any student, weekday, or colour offers directly before booking.

Pros

  • Gentlemen’s perms offered
  • Convenient location
  • Works for multi-treatment visits
  • Reasonable rates

Cons

  • Discount details may need confirmation before booking
  • Irregular business hours
  • Specialist services like perms may require consultation before final pricing

Rachel did a great job with my balayage

Yesterday was my first experience at Paul’s hair salon, and I am very happy with the outcome. Rachel did a great job with my balayage, Paul was there with his professional expertise, and they both make a great team. The whole staff is nice and friendly, and Milo is the cutest addition. Thank you, all!

I absolutely love how my hair turned out

Had a complete change of colour at Paul Allen. Paul, as always, was fantastic at helping me choose what was right for me. He also did some bespoke extensions for me that look so good. I absolutely love how my hair turned out. Paul is amazing at what he does, yet makes it look so easy. Great friendly salon. Highly recommended. You won’t be disappointed.

I heard about Hair in the City from several different friends. It has a private room that caters to utmost client privacy, offering a respite from real salon anxiety brought about by several issues and lifestyle choices.

It’s built for clients who need privacy for hijabs, hair loss, post-chemo regrowth, sensory needs, or a non-judgmental, gender-neutral LGBTQ safe space. Most services can be done there, and you only need to mention it when booking.

When I visited, I instantly felt the calm, fully enclosed one-stylist-one-client vibe. I didn’t feel watched while getting my hair done, so I reckon it’s the same for those who feel extra vulnerable on a stylist’s chair.

The salon itself is a Keune Gold Ambassador, and is an award-winning colour specialist with balayage, bleach, foiling, tinting, toning, extensions, and Keune treatments on the menu. Pricing is pretty reasonable, too: cuts are £23.50 to £50, and balayage costs between £97.50 and £145.

My friends, who are Muslim clients needing modesty, LGBTQ members wanting a no-judgment chair, and some dealing with alopecia, thinning, and post-chemo regrowth, are all satisfied clients of this salon.

That said, the private room may require advance notice to book, so make sure you do this, as clients aren’t assured of walk-in success.

Pros

  • Private room provides a safe, non-judgmental space
  • Thoughtful, inclusive setup
  • Keune Gold Ambassador
  • Fairly accessible pricing

Cons

  • Private room needs prior booking
  • No clear promos or discounts are advertised

She did a fabulous job at cutting my hair

First time in the salon, and I was so happy I got an appointment with Katie. She was so lovely and did a fabulous job at cutting my hair. She took the time and put so much care into making it perfect and making sure I was happy. Lovely experience. I’ll be back.

She knows exactly what to do to get hair looking its best

Louise is absolutely amazing with hair; her instincts as a stylist are spot on, and she knows exactly what to do to get hair looking the best it possibly can. She is a pro through and through, and both her work and everything in her salon are of the highest standard. The team is also great, and as a customer, I always feel well taken care of. Incredible work, every time.
