Get your estate sorted with the best wills lawyers in Glasgow
In Scotland, you can make a will without a solicitor, but the rules are technical enough that mistakes around validity, working, or legal rights can cause trouble later.
It also helps to remember what is at stake if you put it off. If you die without a will in Scotland, your estate will be dealt with under intestacy rules, and an unmarried partner doesn’t automatically inherit anything.
Looking for a wills lawyer in Glasgow usually means you want a private client specialist, not a broad family lawyer who only dabbles in estate planning. Here are some of the best ones who can make the entire process feel clear, careful, and stress-free.
How much does a wills lawyer charge in Glasgow?
In Glasgow, a solicitor will usually charge around £150 to £250 plus VAT for a standard single will. For mirror wills for couples, the usual range is £250 to £400 plus VAT, while more complex estates involving tax planning or trusts will generally cost more (upward of £500).
1. Jain Neil & Ruddy Solicitors

Address: The Town House, 12 Sandyford Pl
Contact: +441412218778
Business hours: Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM
Jain Neil & Ruddy Solicitors felt like a solid pick for one of the biggest myths in estate planning: marriage or a civil partnership doesn’t automatically guarantee your whole estate goes where you expect in Scotland.
They come across as approachable, broad in experience, and used to sensitive personal matters such as mine. They lean into close client contact and practical advice rather than legal waffle, too.
Their private client side covers wills, powers of attorney, executries, and even guardianship work. For key services, I’d look at them mainly for will drafting and review, plus executry work if your family will eventually need help administering an estate.
The firm also handles powers of attorney. I feel this is handy for those who want to sort the larger “what if” paperwork in one go, rather than hopping between firms.
They feel accessible to Glasgow clients, thanks to offices in both Sandyford Place and Anniesland. I also like that they offer a free initial telephone consultation, which makes that first step less awkward and less expensive.
That said, the firm doesn’t clearly advertise home or hospital visits for wills clients, and parking is only noted as nearby/on-street. It may not be the easiest option if you want maximum convenience at the door.

I found him very professional and responsive
I recently had a new Will & POA drawn up by Pravin Jain at the Anniesland Branch. I found him very professional and responsive, and he gave clear guidance. I thoroughly recommend Jain, Neil & Ruddy and would use them again should I have any other legal matters.

2. Weir Law Solicitors

Address: 12 Fitzroy Pl, Finnieston
Contact: +441416285544
Business hours: Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM
Weir Law Solicitors struck me as a proper private client specialist rather than a general firm that happens to do wills on the side. They focus on will-writing, succession planning, incapacity law, and elderly care, while also offering free legal advice to get the conversation started.
For my ill grandfather, we appreciated that they deal with Living Wills/Advance Directives as a named service. Those feel especially relevant when someone wants their treatment wishes written down clearly.
They also handle will drafting and power of attorney, so it’s easy to sort the main future-planning documents with one specialist firm. I also like that Weir Law is built around Scottish succession day in and day out, including confirmation/probate, intestacy issues, and estates with international angles.
I reckon they’re a strong pick for families who want calm, clear advice from a firm used to explaining complex Scottish estate matters in plain English. They’re a good fit for people who want a specialist wills and later-life planning firm.
The downside is that they don’t clearly show fixed-fee prices online, so a consultation is a must to determine your budget (there’s still that free no-obligation legal advice, though).

His kindness and professionalism shone through
I would not hesitate to recommend Weir Law Solicitors to family & friends. I met several times with Tim, and during each meeting, he took the time to explain documents thoroughly & answered my many questions; his kindness and professionalism shone through. Excellent communication & service.

Genuinely very impressed by him and their ethics
After my Father’s death, we required a solicitor to assist in winding up his estate. I have struggled to find a suitable company and fell upon Weir Law Solicitors- Tim Weir reviewed a number of documents I had sent him to initiate engagement. Tim very openly and frankly advised me of a number of complex matters our father’s Will contained and also that IHT was likely to be incurred due to some other historical decisions- he offered all this with no benefit to his company as some of the complex trust work was outside their remit – genuinely very impressed by him and their ethics – would not hesitate to use them when we need a solicitor again.

3. Raeside Chisholm Solicitors Limited

Address: Tontine House, 8 Gordon St
Contact: +441412483456
Business hours: Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM
My colleague was curious about trusts and guardianships, and Raeside Chisholm felt like a strong fit for someone like him who wanted private client help. After all, they deal with Scottish succession regularly, not just as a sideline.
My work pal liked how they present themselves as experienced, approachable, and used to stressful family situations. Trusts or guardianships are clearly named services and actively promoted rather than buried in a long service list.
They also note special guardianship advice under the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act of 2000, which adds reassurance if the matter is more sensitive or more complex than a simple will.
He also liked that they invite clients to arrange an initial consultation. He now recommends this firm to those who want a Glasgow firm with solid private client depth, especially if wills overlap with trusts, incapacity issues, or guardianship work.
They’re particularly useful for families needing careful Scottish-law advice without bouncing between separate specialists. The con? Their office is in the Glasgow City Centre, which may be less convenient if you’re hoping for easier parking.

4. Jones Whyte

Address: Fyfe Chambers, 105 W George St
Contact: +441413751222
Business hours: Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM
Jones Whyte was the strongest option for our Da who wanted more tailored estate planning, not just a basic off-the-shelf will. What stood out to him was how they clearly talk about trust protection, which matters if the discretionary will is part of the conversation.
They also make the first step easier with a free estate planning cost calculator and digital options like video calls and secure online document handling.
Their estate planning team covers wills, trusts, and powers of attorney, and they are used to guiding clients through later-life planning. They’re ideal for will drafting and reviewing first, then probate and executry support if the family later needs help with estate administration.
If you want a modern Glasgow firm that’s well-versed in trusts and more careful structuring, I would highly recommend them. They also make sense for people who want several private documents sorted in one place.
The downside is that their heavy online-first setup may not suit clients who prefer a more traditional, face-to-face-only solicitor experience from the very first step.

I wouldn’t hesitate to use their services again
I would like to thank the team at Jones Whyte Solicitors, specifically Lauren, who completed a family trust fund on behalf of my mum. Originally, the process was started by McClure Solicitors, who, disappointingly, after being fully paid, failed to complete the process. Jones Whyte took over the Trust and completed the task. I was kept updated throughout the process. Deeds were returned without any issues. Finally, my mum’s requirements have been met. I wouldn’t hesitate to use their services again, and would definitely recommend them!

She takes time to listen to my questions and answers
I am very pleased to have spoken to Lamisha; she is very respectful and patient, and never felt rushed by questions. She takes time to listen to my questions and answers them clearly within her professional capacity, which is very helpful to me as I suffered a bit of hearing loss. In the whole, she is so delightful in doing her job. Well done to her.

5. Clark Boyle & Co

Address: 33A Gordon St

Business hours: Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM
Clark Boyle & Co felt like the sensible choice for my sister, who needed her will updated after a divorce without turning it into a big drama. She immediately liked that their wills process felt straightforward, rather than overly formal or intimidating.
She arranged a chat with their legal team, they drafted the updated will to match her wishes, then stored it in their secure facilities once it was signed.
It helps that their private client work covers wills, powers of attorney, and executries. The firm has been serving clients in Scotland since 1985, so she was also reassured of the steady experience.
They make the most sense for families who want a single firm that can help now, and later on when estate needs come up. My sister recommends them for will drafting and review first, especially if life changes mean old documents no longer fit.
That said, the more traditional contact setup may feel a bit old-school if you need instant online booking or a slick, self-serve client portal from the start. My sister wasn’t a fan of the street parking in their city centre office, either.
