Keep your home sturdy & pest-free with the 5 best termite control services in Glasgow
If you’re spotting tiny holes or fine dust in a Glasgow tenement, it’s not just a cosmetic issue. You probably need proper pest control, structural checks, and speedy expert treatment.
Take note that woodworm and termites often get lumped together, and while termites aren’t native here, the damage anxiety is the same. I’ve been there, done that, and so have my homeowner neighbours and family members.
That’s why PCA-accredited woodworm specialists matter, especially in timber-heavy and older properties. Here are some of the experts who don’t just kill insects, but protect beams, floors, and long-term property value.
How much does termite control cost in Glasgow?
Termite or woodworm control costs in Glasgow vary depending on how severe the infestation is and how much of the property is affected. A typical loft treatment usually falls between £400 and £800, with full house treatments being significantly higher.
Most reputable companies require a paid timber survey upfront, which is often deducted from the final bill if treatment goes ahead. Standard home insurance policies usually classify wormwood as wear and tear, meaning treatment and repairs are not covered.
1. Advanced Preservation Specialists

Address: 1157 Govan Road
Contact: +441414455544
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM
When I spotted powdery dust and crumbly timber edges in my flat, my first fear was weakened joists under the floors. Advanced Preservation Specialists felt like the right call for fast, sensible residential treatment, not a sales pitch.
That’s exactly how they approached the problem, thank goodness. Their PCA and TrustMark credentials gave me confidence that this wouldn’t come back to bite me during a future survey or a resale.
The survey wasn’t free, mind, but it was properly done. They checked hidden timbers, moisture levels, and actual tunnelling in the wood, rather than making assumptions based on surface holes alone.
When it came to treatment, everything was explained clearly to me without jargon. They used water-based sprays and targeted paste applications rather than blasting the whole space.
I was kept in the loop about what was being treated and for how long it would be protected.
I’d recommend them for how carefully they assess the problem and how upfront they are about guarantees (10 years for damp and timber treatment) and long-term protection. I wasn’t rushed, and I felt that keeping the structure sound was a priority.
That said, they’re not the cheapest option if you’re only comparing headline prices, especially once the survey fee is included.

I could not have chosen better
APC provided the cheapest quote for the work I needed. I could not have chosen better. The job was completed on time and within budget by a team of highly experienced tradesmen who were exemplary throughout. I thoroughly recommend this company to anyone in need of their services. Special thanks to Jim and Graham, who did most of the hard graft and were a pleasure to have in the house.

My mum only agreed to bring in a specialist if the survey was free, which is how Timberwise got through the door. It suited her perfectly because she needed reassurance before committing, especially in her timber-heavy Glasgow flat.
What worked in the company’s favour was how straightforward their process was from the start. The free survey gave my mum the reassurance she needed, and their PCA and TrustMark credentials made it clear it was a proper inspection, not a sales pitch.
The survey itself went further than a quick look around. They checked both obvious damages and hidden timbers before any treatment was mentioned.
When options did come up, they talked through water-based sprays and targeted applications calmly. Mum’s asthma meant she can’t have any heavy fogging, which they understood.
They’re a good fit if you want fast residential treatment (though they also do commercial sites) and a clear answer before committing serious money. My mum happily recommends them to anyone with older Glasgow properties.
She also liked the way their 20-year timber treatment guarantee was explained, minus the pressure.
Do note that once you move beyond the free survey, costs can rise quickly depending on how much timber needs treatment. Being a larger firm also means follow-up appointments can be less flexible than those of smaller local specialists.

I’m confident that you won’t be disappointed
We were visited by Jack initially, who disappeared into our cellar to inspect the joists, after woodworm was discovered in our bathroom floor during a renewal of the tiling, suite, etc. A very pleasant young man who gave us an initial report, including some photos that he had taken, indicating that there was a presence in other joists, but not as bad as expected. We decided to go ahead with Timberwise to spray the timbers throughout with a protective treatment to discourage the spread of the problem. Enter Simon, again a pleasant fellow, who got to work as soon as possible, given the freezing temperatures. Nothing was too much trouble for this very helpful young man. I would like to recommend them and Timberwise to anyone who requires the services that they provide, and I’m confident that you won’t be disappointed.

Completely professional and a credit to the company
Great company. Had an issue with woodworm and inturn weak and damaged floorboards and an issue with a floor joist. A survey was booked and carried out, detailing what was needed and the costs. A while after a couple of guys, Liam and Simon, great guys, completely professional and a credit to the company, turned up to begin work. They had discovered nothing was wrong with said joist, and that whoever in the past had done the work beforehand decided not to prop/secure the floor in the corner. The guys sorted this issue, which I’m over the moon about. They then sprayed the woodworm treatment and replaced any weak floorboards.
The communication from the office staff was great from start to finish in keeping me up to date with what’s happening and when. Would highly recommend it, and I will use it again when needed. Thanks for your works guys. I’m chuffed with the work, and I now get the privilege of being dragged around looking at new flooring. Thanks again!

My conscientious colleague won’t even book a survey unless there is a 30-year woodworm treatment guarantee on the table, which I thought was asking a bit much. Honestly, I’d be chuffed having anywhere between ten and 20 years’ worth!
However, Richardson & Starling offered that precisely: a level of long-term cover that matters in a Glasgow flat where timber problems can resurface years later. He was impressed with how they treated the building itself, and not just the infestation.
The survey he got was slow and deliberate in a good way, spending as much time on hidden structural timbers as the obvious problem areas. The treatment focus stayed on water-based sprays, as he emphasised preservation over clumsy fogging that could miss spots.
They make the most sense if you’re dealing with an older Glasgow property and want something that will last decades (or if you’re planning to sell it down the line, like my work pal).
He recommends them for their depth of experience, familiarity with ageing tenement stock, and those three-decade-long guarantees that actually mean something.
However, that long-term, conservation-led approach does come at a higher cost than quick-fix operators. They’re also not the most ideal if you need urgent, next-day work, as their surveys and treatments run on a more measured timeline.

Would recommend to anyone who finds that they have a damp, woodworm or rot problem
Our Church property in Larkhall was affected by Rising Damp, Wet and Dry Rot. We engaged Richardson & Starling to deal with the property problem. The property was surveyed by Craig, who carried out a thorough and professional survey and issued a very detailed report. The contracting was supervised by Daryn, who managed the works from start to finish and kept us updated and communicated well with us. The quality of the works was carried out to a very high standard by Graeme, Willie, Davie, Billy, John, Josh and Sco,t who were courteous and very tidy considering the major repair works. The office staff were very helpful and easy to contact. I would recommend Richardson & Starling to anyone who finds that they have a damp, woodworm or rot problem in their property. Great Company for Property Repairs.

So glad they were nice workmen
Scott and Ross turned up on time yesterday to do the hall floor due to woodworm. They were very polite, and nothing was a problem, even though it was the hall, with it being cold kept the door shut to stay warm, and even offered to move furniture and tidy up after them. Not their fault, but been waiting ages for this, so glad they were nice workmen.

4. Dampness & Rot

Address: Workspace 1, 6 Fullarton Rd, Cambuslang
Contact: +441415301299
Hours: Daily, 9 AM–7 PM
My neighbour wasn’t entirely sure if she was dealing with woodworm or rot, which is why Dampness & Rot made sense as a first call. They’re best for diagnostic-led treatment, especially when the issue could be moisture, decay, or insect damage.
Once the problem was clear (it was woodworm), they explained options that went beyond just fogging, and more into practical applications like targeted paste placements. She said it felt proportionate to her issues and small flat, not overkill.
She knew they weren’t doing guesswork, thanks to their PCA and TrustMark accreditations. Plus, their survey focused on identifying the root cause, checking moisture levels and timber condition before any treatment was discussed.
As a result, she’s been recommending them to everyone. She praises their careful surveys and experience with properties that have overlapping damp and woodworm issues, along with honest advice and fixing the root cause.
If there’s an issue, it’s that they aren’t the fastest option if you already know it’s active woodworm and want immediate treatment. Their diagnostic approach can also add time and cost before any actual work begins.

They were so friendly, professional and helpful,
Great company! We recently purchased a home which they had treated for woodworm. It was so easy and straightforward to contact them and get the guarantee transferred over. They were so friendly, professional and helpful, explaining everything to us in a way that was easy to understand. They’re reasonably priced as well! Really recommend!

The surveyor was also very reassuring
We recently received excellent service from Dampness and Rot Glasgow. The surveyor came quickly, was very knowledgeable and always willing to answer questions, no matter how many. The company were flexible with dates and provided a very reasonable and transparent quote. Investigations conducted were thorough, explanations of the problems and solutions were clear and understandable as well from a layperson’s perspective. The surveyor was also very reassuring, which was welcome in light of what felt like a stressful situation to be in with regard to the wet rot and woodworm infestation in our subfloor wall plate and joists. We would happily recommend this company.

5. Alliance Timber & Damp Specialists

My best pal was adamant about one thing: a 30-year woodworm guarantee that transfers to new owners, especially with a sale of his flat on the horizon.
Lucky for him, Alliance Timber & Damp Specialists treats this demand as routine, not a premium add-on. My friend liked their forward-thinking approach, especially in a Glasgow tenement where today’s fix can become tomorrow’s issue.
Aside from their TrustMark and PCA credentials, their proper, surveyor-level work that was vastly different from the usual pest control reeled him in. The survey took its time in a good way, with careful, thorough inspection of all problem areas before numbers were even mentioned.
There was no pushing into overdoing things like fogging up the whole place. Rather, he was given options that targeted both hidden and obvious areas using water-based sprays and paste applications.
Right now, he’s been proudly telling people how they combine thorough inspections with transferable long-term guarantees, especially with resale in mind. He said the entire firm’s setup feels aimed at protecting the property’s future value.
That said, the long-term focus does push costs higher than short-term fixes.

I would highly recommend Alliance for the professional and hassle-free service
I would like to thank Alliance Timber for the excellent job carried out at my property, initially the contractor viewed the property and supplied a very detailed report and estimate, which I accepted. On the day that the work was to be carried out, they arrived at the agreed time and treated the floorboards and joists for woodworm. Approximately a week later, I received my 30-year guarantee. I would highly recommend Alliance for the professional and hassle-free service provided, and at what I believe to be a very reasonable and competitive price for the work carried out.
