Enjoy cosier rooms with the best shutters in Glasgow!

Product range and customisation - We assessed whether they offer a variety of shutter styles, materials, and finishes, along with made-to-measure options to suit different window shapes and home styles.

Product quality - We checked whether they supply shutters made from sturdy, long-lasting materials like hardwood or high-grade composites, with smooth finishes, solid hinges, and designs that hold up well in Glasgow’s changing weather.

Aftercare and warranty - We evaluated whether they provide clear warranty terms, responsive after-sales support, and easy access to repairs or adjustments if needed.

Availability - We considered whether they have showrooms that are easy to reach by car or public transport, with installation services covering most of Glasgow and availability on most days of the week.

Price fairness - We looked at whether their prices are fair given their customisation options, product quality, warranty support, and additional services offered.

I’ve just started a new job, and it has me working nights because my clients are overseas. Now, I’m going to bed when the sun is coming up, which makes getting any decent sleep a real challenge.

I finally gave in and got shutters fitted so I can block out the daylight and pretend it’s still midnight. So far, the results are great! They keep the room dark, help with the heating bills, and give me a bit more privacy, too.

If you’re in the same boat or just fancy the extra comfort, I’ve pulled together a list of the best shutter suppliers in Glasgow to save you the legwork. If blinds are more your style, we have a separate guide for that, but if not, keep reading.

How much do shutters cost in Glasgow?

Shutters in Glasgow will usually cost you around £290 per window. Take note that prices can vary quite a bit depending on the size of your windows, the material, and the finish you choose.

The Glasgow Shutter Company is one of those local businesses I enjoy recommending. They only work with made-to-measure plantation shutters, which I like because it means they know their craft inside out.

You can go for full-height if you want total coverage, tier-on-tier for flexible light control, cafe style for street-facing rooms, or custom shapes for awkward windows. I’m a fan of their premium-grade hardwood for the natural polished look, but the polyvinyl option is good if you need something that can handle moisture.

Both come with a 10-year guarantee, which is quite impressive. They also offer free quotes, so you know the cost upfront.

The quality is clear, but they’re not the cheapest option, and you’ll be waiting around 12 to 16 weeks from order to installation.

Pros

  • Specialises in made-to-measure plantation shutters
  • Wide range of styles
  • Choice of premium-grade hardwood or moisture-resistant polyvinyl
  • 10-year guarantee
  • Free quotes

Cons

  • Above-average prices
  • Lead time of roughly 8–16 weeks for installation

They add so much to your home in terms of appeal, style and even value

“Faultless service from Ken. Perfect fit, exceptionally well installed and a bunch of spares in case of any issues. Shutters aren’t cheap but they add so much to your home in terms of appeal, style and even value in the long term. We shall be getting more soon. :-)”

I was on a tight budget, so I decided to go with Select Blinds & Shutters. They’ve been around since 1995 and run their own factory, making a good range of shutters, including full-height, tier-on-tier, and cafe style.

I used their free home measuring and fitting service to make it easier to choose the right option. I ultimately went for their perfect-fit shutters since my windows are small, and these take up less space than standard plantation styles.

What’s nice is they’re running a 20% discount on shutters to boost their popularity alongside their blinds and curtains, so the price worked out even better! The five-year guarantee was also reassuring.

The only major downside was a production hiccup that pushed my order well past their usual 3–4 week turnaround. It ended up taking two months before they were ready.

Pros

  • 30 years of experience
  • Made-to-measure shutters from their own factory
  • Free home measuring and fitting service
  • 20% discount on shutters
  • 5-year guarantee

Cons

  • Showroom is located a bit far from Glasgow’s western neighbourhoods
  • Sometimes suffers from production delays

You won’t find better value for money anywhere.

“From visiting the showroom to measuring and fitting, the experience was first class. Special mention to Ian the fitter, who was fast and efficient and left the place spotless despite having to drill into concrete for us. Excellent service and quality products. You won’t find better value for money anywhere.”

The Blind Guy & Shutters caught my attention because they won the Scottish Home Improvement Awards in 2023. They stock the usual shutter styles but also offer electric shutters that you can control with a remote or your phone, which is a huge plus for convenience.

It’s reassuring that they’re part of the BBSA’s Make It Safe Campaign, so every fitting includes safety features to help protect children and pets. They also provide free measuring and consultation services, which makes it easier to choose the right shutters.

One thing that does bother me is the lack of a clear warranty policy. You have to go through their consultation to get an idea of what’s covered. They’re also busy with new orders, so you’re looking at around a month before they can fit your shutters once you book.

Pros

  • Winner of the 2023 Scottish Home Improvement Awards
  • 4 locations in Glasgow
  • Member of the BBSA’s Make It Safe Campaign
  • Free measuring and consultation service
  • Offers electric shutters

Cons

  • No clear warranty policy
  • Installation wait time of around a month or more

I’m over the moon with the final result

“Can’t thank The Blind Guy enough for my living room shutters. The consultation with Thomas was informative and full of brilliant advice on style and materials to choose. I’m over the moon with the final result. Davie the fitter was second to none with the installation, so tidy and clean. Would highly recommend to everyone. I will definitely be asking the guys back, the bedroom will be next.”

Everything was fantastic

“Absolutely love my new shutters. From initial phone call to fitting, everything was fantastic. Best bit—No hard sell! Thomas came out, knew exactly what I wanted and provided all of the relevant information. Fitting was seamless and I was spoken through all elements for aftercare.

Only downside – they don’t take away the delivery boxes, so required a trip to the skip, but worth it for the finished product. Will be getting more done!

Another supplier I found that could save you some money is Lomond Blinds And Shutters. They focus on plantation shutters and offer styles like full-height, tier-on-tier, and cafe style. You can choose between solid wood or faux wood, and the build quality holds up well.

One of the better parts of their service is that measuring and fitting are included at no extra cost! They also give discounts to NHS staff and Blue Light Card holders, which is a nice gesture for key workers.

Finance is available too, which can help if paying the full amount upfront isn’t ideal.

On the downside, they don’t have a clear warranty policy, which might put off anyone who likes to compare guarantees. There’s also no showroom, so you’ll need to book a measuring visit to see their products in person.

Pros

  • 20 years of experience installing shutters
  • Free measuring and fitting service
  • Discounts for NHS staff and Blue Light Card holders
  • Offers full house discounts
  • Offers financing options

Oak Blinds and Shutters has been working in Glasgow for over twenty years, making and fitting shutters that are built to measure. What I like is that you deal with a local team from start to finish, which keeps things simple.

They feature a solid range of plantation shutters, like tier-on-tier, full-height, and conservatory styles. Their uPVC shutters come with a 10-year guarantee, while hardwood gets three years, so you know where you stand on aftercare.

They also give free quotes with no pressure to commit, which is handy if you’re still shopping around.

The few downsides are that they don’t take bookings on weekends and they don’t accept returns, most likely because everything they make is custom-built to fit each order.

Pros

  • 20 years of experience in manufacturing and installation
  • Fully bespoke made-to-measure shutters
  • 10-year guarantee on uPVC shutters
  • 3-year guarantee on hardwood shutters
  • Offers free, no obligation quotes

Cons

  • Unavailable on weekends
  • Doesn’t accept returns
