The 5 Best Recruitment Agencies in Glasgow with Excellent Networks

  • Speed with a believable timeline - They should be upfront about pace: temps are often filled in 24 to 48 hours, while permanent professional roles usually take 3 to 6 weeks from briefing to signed offer. And if they promise “tomorrow” for a niche permanent role, we’re already side-eyeing it.
  • Quality of shortlist - Instead of CV quantity, we want 3 to 5 properly matched candidates or roles, with clear notes on why they fit, and skills, salary alignment, availability, and any deal-breakers flagged early. We give spammy CV dumping an instant nope.
  • Real sector pull in Glasgow - They should actually know their lanes: finance, engineering, hospitality, industrial, etc. They should have relationships with hiring managers, including unadvertised roles. Bonus points if they can talk rates, shifts, and demand trends like pros.
  • Straight-talking comms and proper support - We looked for quick replies, honest feedback, and practical help like CV tightening, interview prep, and offer negotiation, minus the sales patter. For employers, there should be a clear process, sorted compliance, and no surprise fees or replacements.

I once had to review software developer candidates for work, and it taught me one thing fast: a shiny CV means hee-haw if the shortlist is off! That’s how I’ve come to regard a good recruitment agency as a tool to get more candidates or roles that actually fit.

For employers, the right agency cuts through the noise with proper shortlists, quicker time-to-fill, and fewer hiring headaches. For job seekers, the top ones can get you in the loop with roles, CV tweaks, and interview prep.

Here’s my no-faff review of the best recruitment agencies in Glasgow that made the cut.

How much does a recruitment agency charge in Glasgow?

In Glasgow, employers usually pay recruitment agencies 15% to 25% of the hire’s first-year salary for permanent placements (the harder or more senior the role, the higher it tends to be).
For temps/contractors, agencies can charge a markup on top of the worker’s hourly pay rate, often showing as a higher “charge rate.”
For job seekers, it’s free. UK rules don’t allow agencies to charge candidates for finding them work.

I was on the hunt for a marketing, creative, or PR role in Glasgow, and Reed Recruitment Agency felt like a great place to check out for a consultant who’ll move things along for me.

I like that they are not boxed into one niche. Reed’s Glasgow office covers 20 sectors, including accountancy and finance, engineering and manufacturing, hospitality, and business support. So even if I’m creative-first, they’ve usually got adjacent doors open with employers who hire for comms-heavy teams.

They also handle temporary, interim, and permanent hiring in marketing, creative, and PR, so I can take a quick contract while I wait for that dream role. And because they’re a big operator with a massive candidate database, the shortlist tends to be more about suitability than quantity-based randomness.

The key perk is arguably the grown-up bits, like salary benchmarking guidance and regular market insights, so I’m not guessing what’s fair or current.

My verdict is that Reed has a strong reputation with both Glasgow employers and candidates. That said, because they’re a large agency, the system can feel a bit more system-led than boutique.

Pros

  • Wide sector coverage (20 specialisms)
  • Covers temp, interim, and permanent jobs
  • Big candidate/employer network
  • Salary benchmarking with market insights

Cons

  • Consultant-dependent results
  • Large volume can mean slower feedback loops at busy times

My nephew is an electrician, so when he said “Canada or bust,” his mum and I pointed him to MCK Global. He expected a lot of big talk and little action, but they were refreshingly Glasgow about it: straight questions, clear next steps, and no pretending an overseas move happens in a weekend.

They’re strongest in construction, engineering, and automotive, with some finance-adjacent hiring. They suit a trades background far better than a CV-slinging shop, and yes, they do place people into Canadian roles!

The big benefit my nephew sees is their global reach, coupled with structured screening via their candidate portal. They’ve gotten a reputation among employers who need dependable technical people, and candidates who want to relocate without getting lost in paperwork.

They’re a good fit if you want a consultant who will tell you what’s realistic and keep you moving. They’re one of the better “made the cut” options for trades aiming abroad.

However, if you’re hoping for a 24 to 48-hour turnaround like local temp cover, here’s a reality check: international placements usually take longer and depend on documents, checks, and employer timelines.

Pros

  • Canada and Europe pipeline
  • Trades-friendly specialisms
  • Portal-led process

Cons

  • Not a generalist agency
  • Relocation isn’t rapid
  • System-heavy onboarding

A special thank you to Nicole, who was always available to assist whenever I needed help. I wish MCK GLOBAL continued success in helping companies secure top talent from around the world.

My close pal’s luxury boutique needed a manager who could run the place like clockwork, not just look the part (though that’s a definite bonus!). She rang Office Angels in Glasgow, and they were quick to set expectations: fast moves for urgent cover, and a more realistic run-up for a proper permanent hire.

They handle interim, temporary, and permanent placements, which is ideal for my friend since she’s looking at a temp-to-permanent trial before handing over the keys to the stockroom.

Their bread-and-butter is office professionals; the organised, customer-savvy, spreadsheet-capable type a manager needs behind the scenes. They also cover handy lanes like accounts/finance, marketing, HR, and senior support, so it’s not just admin.

What stood out for my pal is the agency’s scale. They have a big candidate pool and a proper process, so they can send people who can actually run an office.

Do note that, while my friend got lucky with a well-suited hire, the agency is strongest in office/support-style hiring. If you need a pure retail headhunter with luxury-brand black-book energy, you might want a specialist alongside them.

Pros

  • Office-pros focus
  • Temp and permanent flexibility
  • Active Glasgow pipeline

Cons

  • Process can feel corporate
  • Not a luxury retail specialist

Customer Reviews

I feel well looked after

Working with Office Angels has been a very positive experience. I feel well looked after, with regular check-ins, and I have had a variety of roles which were all well-suited to me, with excellent admin support.

The team has been consistently supportive

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Office Angels as a Temporary Administrative Assistant for the past 2 years, and I can’t speak highly enough of my experience. The team has been consistently supportive, approachable and professional, and they’ve always taken care to match me with roles that suited my skills and preferences. I’d highly recommend Office Angels to anyone looking for temp work or a supportive agency that genuinely looks out for its employees.

When he needed a new senior buyer for his business, my brother insisted on proper vetting with numbers, because his previous experience only went by “vibes” and wasn’t a good fit.

Thankfully, MRD Recruitment was refreshingly no-nonsense and didn’t promise miracles. Since it was a senior hire, he was grateful for the thorough planning and commercial/data-led analytics involved in the process.

They’re all about procurement and supply chains, and work across engineering and manufacturing, logistics, and retail and commerce. Senior Buyer is a huge part of their source lane, so my brother didn’t feel like they were forcing a specialist role through a generalist funnel.

They position themselves as a search and selection firm for hard-to-fill appointments, spanning from executive to operational levels across supply chain and operations. That suited my brother’s show-me-the-evidence mindset, since the whole process is built around getting the right hire, not the fastest CV.

But because of this, if the role you’re looking for drifts into something outside those lanes, you might be better off pairing them with a broader agency. MRD is more of a specialist and consultative team.

Pros

  • Procurement-first specialists
  • Analytics baked into the process
  • Search and selection mindset

Cons

  • Narrower lane by design
  • Slower consultative pace
  • Smaller candidate pool

5. Eden Scott

When my neighbour started scaling his renewables outfit, he declared he needed a team yesterday. He didn’t want a pile of random CVs on his desk (he’s big on going paperless), so Eden Scott seemed like a good fit for his needs.

They’re properly plugged in, sector-wise. Renewable energy is a named specialism (wind, solar, hydro, tidal, storage…the lot!), and they also cover big Glasgow staples like finance and tech.

This means he can hire both the engineer and the people who keep the lights on behind the scenes. They’ve got the full menu of placement types, too: permanent, contract, and temporary, plus executive search when you’re looking for leadership.

What stood out for him was how process-led the team was. They gave proper screening, plus options like assessment design and digital recruitment campaigns when he wanted to hire at speed without lowering the bar.

He reckons he came away from the experience with fewer headaches and a shortlist that actually looks like the team he wants. That said, because the agency covers a lot of sectors, the process can be a bit desk-dependent and reliant on getting the right specialist.

Pros

  • Renewables specialist desk
  • Full hiring menu
  • Extra assessment tools beyond CVs

Cons

  • Desk-by-desk variability
  • Not a global hiring machine

Eden Scott has a very professional and personable recruiter

Without doubt, Katrina Davis has been the kindest, most supportive recruiter I have had the pleasure of coming across in my journey for a new role. My experience in my search is that after the initial chat with a recruiter, you never hear from them again. I totally appreciate the time and effort she put in from our first chat right the way through to my successful interview and contract offer. Eden Scott has a very professional and personable recruiter working for them, and I wish Katrina all the very best as she moves upwards in her career. She actually came across as delighted for me as I was. Thank you for all your support, Katrina.
