Where to Slurp the 9 Best Phos in Glasgow That Hit the Spot Every Time

After a freezing moment at the park, we craved something warm, hearty, and easy on the wallet. Pho seemed like a safe bet, and it didn’t disappoint. The broth was rich, the noodles perfect, and suddenly the morning run felt worth it!

Glasgow has plenty of noodle spots, but only a few make it truly satisfying.

Over the past month, we tried several spots to find pho bowls that are always good, no matter when you visit!

Despite being in a pretty central spot, Pho Glasgow has a low-key and relaxed vibe. It’s got space for about 100 people, so it works both for a quick solo meal or a chill catch-up with friends.

The pho is the real standout. I had the beef brisket, and the broth tasted rich and slow-cooked. The herbs and lime plate on the side made it feel interactive in a good way.

They also have a pretty varied menu. Besides pho, there are summer rolls and curries.

The place is also quite allergen-friendly, with options for gluten-free and vegan diners. We like that the menu clearly notes common allergens, which makes it easier to find something that works for your diet.

Pro tip:

Try the Super Green Pho if you want something different from the usual beef or chicken. It’s surprisingly flavourful. Pair it also with one of their summer rolls for a fresh contrast.

Ha Noi Pho is ideal for a relaxed meal with friends. It has a compact space with casual seating, simple décor, and a cosy vibe that makes it easy to linger over your bowl of pho.

Their chicken pho is a highlight, with a rich, well-balanced broth and tender slices of chicken that aren’t overcooked. The bowl comes with a generous portion of noodles, and the overall flavours feel carefully layered and comforting.

Beyond pho, there’s plenty to explore on the menu. Fresh spring rolls, grilled pork vermicelli bowls, and a few vegetarian-friendly options add variety. They also do some interesting rice dishes and small sides that pair nicely if you want a fuller meal.

Pro tip:

If you’re visiting after a show or late in the evening, try to grab a top-floor booth for a quieter spot and a view over Union Street.

Viet Pho

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Friday & Sunday: 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM
  • Saturday: 11:00 AM – 10:30 PM

Viet Pho has a straightforward setup that keeps the focus on the food. The interior is clean and brightly lit, and the way they display fresh herbs and ingredients gives a sense of care before you even take a sip of your pho.

They serve pho in a few different variations, including beef, chicken, and a spicy beef option. I love their beef pho. The broth was rich but not too heavy, and I could really taste the gentle kick of ginger and a hint of star anise.

On top of pho, they serve North Vietnamese-style dishes like Bún Chả Nem and South Vietnamese-style salads and stir-fries. I ended up eyeing a few of the salads while enjoying my pho. They looked just as tempting as the soup.

Pro tip:

Try a combination of pho and a North Vietnamese-style dish. It’s a way to experience flavours you don’t usually get at pho-only spots.

Pho 79 focuses on street-food-style dishes, but their pho still steals the show.

They really go all-in with their pho options. You’ll find Phở Bò Tái (rare beef), Phở Bò Chín (well-done beef flank), Phở Tái Bò Viên (rare beef + meatballs), and even a Phở Đặc Biệt (rare beef, chicken, and meatball).

They also have Phở Bò Sốt Vang (a red-wine beef stew pho) and Phở Tái Lăn (a stir-fried noodle soup). For something lighter, there a Phở Gà, their chicken pho, which still comes with that aromatic broth and fresh herbs.

Just looking at their menu might make your mouth water!

Pro tip:

If you’re stopping by for lunch, try pairing a small fried rice paper roll with your pho. It’s a combination that highlights the street food vibe they bring to the menu.

Little Vietnam is one of our go-to spots when we want something both familiar and a little special.

The restaurant itself is quite spacious with décor that quietly nods to Vietnamese tradition but feels modern.

When it comes to their pho, they don’t just stick to the classics. You’ll find Phở bò chín (cooked beef), Phở bò tái (rare beef), and a mixed tái chín, as well as beefball versions. They also offer vegetable pho, vegan pho, prawn pho, and their special Pho Đặc Biệt.

I tried their rare beef one, and the broth felt deep and thoughtful. It’s not greasy but clearly simmered with care.

Their starters and mains are solid too. I went for the vegan spring rolls one night, and it was crisp, light, and full of flavour. The rest of the menu includes street-food-style vermicelli bowls and some braised rice dishes.

Pro tip:

Order extra fried dough sticks (quẩy) as a topping for your pho. The crunch adds a fun contrast to the smooth broth, and it’s a little twist that feels uniquely Vietnamese.

Four Seasons Vietnamese Restaurant is pretty affordable, and considering what you get, it feels like a solid win.

They serve a generous portion of pho. Think classic beef and chicken to more unique options like rare beef with meatballs.

I tried the rare beef pho, and the broth felt full-bodied. The meat was tender, and the noodles held up well, giving the bowl a satisfying, layered taste with each spoonful.

What makes Four Seasons a crowd favourite is their menu beyond pho. They offer BBQ pork rice plates, Vietnamese curries, and speciality vermicelli bowls. We couldn’t help but peek at other people’s plates while enjoying our pho.

Pro tip:

Go for a special mixed pho if you want to try a combination of flavours in one bowl. It’s a Four Season’s signature and lets you taste different cuts of beef and meatballs in the same rich broth.

Non Viet is the spot to visit when you want food that really tastes like it’s from Vietnam.

We stopped by their Sauchiehall Street spot, and the pho left us impressed. The broth isn’t just a clear liquid. It has this subtle depth of flavour that makes each slurp feel intentional.

Plus, the noodles hold up without getting soggy if you take your time.

We especially liked how easy it was to customise. You can add lots of herbs and lime, but even on its own, it tastes clean and savoury. The beef is tender, and the portion is just right for a filling lunch that doesn’t feel too heavy.

They also do delivery, and we’re confident it’ll reach you tasting almost as good as in the restaurant.

Pro tip:

If you’re feeling indecisive, go with the pho with brisket and tendon. It’s the kind of combination that makes you appreciate how well they cook each component separately before bringing it all together.

Little Hoi An

Location: 26 Allison Street

Operating hours: Tuesday–Saturday: 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Pricing: $$

Little Hoi An is this cosy Vietnamese spot tucked into Glasgow’s south side, and it immediately feels like you’re walking into someone’s dining room. It’s a small space with warm lighting and simple décor.

The pho there is quietly impressive. Their beef pho has a clean, gentle broth that’s not overly salty or MSG-heavy. In fact, people say they don’t use MSG. When we ordered it, the flavour wasn’t screaming for attention, but each sip felt thoughtful.

They have a few pho options, like chicken pho, combination beef pho, and rare beef version, so you can mix it up depending on what you’re in the mood for.

The staff here is friendly, which makes the experience feel welcoming.

There’s also a BYOB policy, so you can bring your own drinks and enjoy a more relaxed dinner.

Pro tip:

Ask for a splash of their house chilli oil. It adds a gentle, smoky heat that really lifts the broth without overpowering the delicate flavours.

Vietfresh Restaurant

Location: 308 Argyle Street

Operating hours: Monday to Sunday: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Visiting Vietfresh Restaurant feels like entering a little slice of Vietnam. It’s tucked into a space that’s both warm and unpretentious. Plus, there’s a Vietnamese grocery downstairs.

When we tried their pho, the broth stood out. It’s rich and fragrant, and you can tell there’s a real balance of flavour. I went for the rare beef pho, but they also offer well-done beef, chicken pho, and a tofu (vegetarian) version.

Other dishes are solid, too. They have a bun bo hue, grilled pork noodles, and bahn mi. We tried a bit of the bun bo hue, and it had a nice kick. It’s also worth sharing if you’re feeling adventurous.

Another small but thoughtful touch is that they give out complimentary sweets or tea while you wait, which makes the experience feel more personal.

Pro tip:

Before or after your meal, check out the Vietnamese supermarket downstairs. You can grab some authentic dishes that you probably won’t find in regular stores. It also makes the whole visit feel more complete.
