The Best Orthodontists in Glasgow for a Confident Smile!

Experience and qualifications - We looked for licensed orthodontists with at least three years of professional experience and who are recognised by official regulatory bodies, such as the General Dental Council.

Range of treatments - We prefer orthodontists who offer a solid range of orthodontic treatments, including traditional braces, ceramic options, Invisalign, and lingual braces.

Patient care - We considered whether they always treat patients with respect, explain treatment plans clearly, and make patients feel comfortable rather than rushed. We also checked how quickly they respond to calls and emails.

Convenience - We evaluated whether their clinics are easy to reach by public transport or car and whether they offer flexible hours during the week. We also looked at how easy it is to secure a booking for repeated visits.

Price fairness - We compared whether their prices are fair given their credentials, track record, and the quality of materials used. We also assessed whether they offer transparent pricing and flexible payment plans.

Finding out I was tongue thrusting in my sleep was one of those bizarre discoveries that explained a lot but left me annoyed. It wasn’t just a quirky habit, since it had pushed my front teeth out of line and left me with a smile I wasn’t happy with.

Speech therapy helped me stop the habit, but the misalignment was still there. That’s why I went straight to an orthodontist and got braces, and after a few months, I could already see my smile improving!

That progress made me curious about who else in Glasgow offers great orthodontic care, so I started researching the best options to help others find the right support, too.

How much does it cost to see an orthodontist in Glasgow?

In Glasgow, orthodontist consultations often cost around £80, though some clinics offer free initial consultations. The overall price of a full treatment depends on the type of braces, with private care averaging about £3,500.

DentalMonitoring (App Store)

Park Orthodontics has been part of Glasgow since 1972, and it’s one of the first proper orthodontic practices here. I like how they’ve managed to keep up with modern treatments while still holding on to that established presence.

They offer Invisalign for people who dislike the feel of traditional braces. They also provide lingual braces that sit behind your teeth if you prefer something more discreet.

I was impressed to see they even offer Damon braces, which are self-ligating and reduce the need for frequent adjustments.

To cut down on return visits, they use the DentalMonitoring app so patients can do check-ups remotely. That’s huge for folks with a busy schedule.

Thankfully, getting started is simple with their free smile consultations and financing options.

Unfortunately, they’re one of the pricier options you’ll find on this list, with standard braces averaging around £4,400.

Pros

  • More than 50 years of experience
  • Wide range of orthodontic treatments
  • Free smile evaluations and consultations
  • Has an app for remote check-ups
  • Offers financing options

Cons

  • Above-average prices
  • Inconsistent operating hours

The results are brilliant

“All of the staff at Park Ortho are lovely. So welcoming and really excellent at explaining the procedures and what’s happening to my daughter. This happened at every appointment and really helped her feel at ease and in control of what was happening to her. We’ve just come to the end of our braces journey and the results are brilliant. Thank you so much!”

Smmmile is one of those places I think could be a solid choice if you’re considering Invisalign. Their main selling point is their Diamond Apex Invisalign Provider status, which means they’re part of the top 1% of the most experienced providers of this treatment worldwide!

Another highlight is their all-inclusive Invisalign packages, which cover Invisalign, teeth whitening, retainers, and digital 3D scans in one price. Packages start from £2,595, which is fairly competitive for what’s included.

If that still feels a bit steep, they have flexible financing options to spread the cost. They also offer free consultations to make it easier to talk through possible treatments without pressure.

On the flip side, they only provide Invisalign, so if you’re after traditional braces, this isn’t the place. They also don’t accept NHS patients, so treatment is entirely self-funded.

To bring back my original smile, I chose the Scottish Centre for Excellence in Dentistry. They’ve been around since 2009, and the free consultations were enough to convince me to give them a try.

They recommended Invisalign, which suited me since I wanted something discreet. For people who only need minor adjustments, they also provide cosmetic teeth straightening that focuses on fewer teeth and can show results in about 6 months.

But what impressed me most was their approach to anxious patients. They have a therapist who offers hypnotherapy, helping you feel calmer and making the whole experience smoother.

I also liked that they provide interest-free financing, which made paying for my orthodontic treatment easier, since it came out of my own pocket. It’s worth noting that this is a fully private clinic, so NHS patients aren’t accepted.

  • More than 15 years of experience
  • Offers free consultations
  • Interest-free financing available
  • Hypnotherapy for anxious patients
  • Offers cosmetic teeth straightening

Another orthodontic clinic I can recommend for people who feel anxious about dental treatments is The Berkeley Clinic. They have around 15 years of experience with procedures such as fillings, extractions, and orthodontics.

They mainly provide traditional braces, but Invisalign is also available for those who want a more discreet option. ClearCorrect is another choice if you want the near-invisible look of Invisalign but at a more budget-friendly price.

To make treatments less stressful, they offer sedation options like nitrous oxide and oral sedation. Patients can also benefit from the STA WAND, a computer-assisted tool that delivers numbing more precisely than old-school syringes.

The downside is that their services are in high demand, so appointments can be hard to secure. At times, they even double-book, which can lead to last-minute cancellations.

Pros

  • 15 years of experience
  • ClearCorrect and Invisalign options for discreet treatment
  • Sedation available for anxious patients
  • Uses modern tech like STA WAND anaesthesia for comfort
  • Offers flexible financing plans

Cons

  • Tends to get fully booked quickly
  • Occasional double booking and cancellations

I felt no pain at all

“I had treatment yesterday with Dr Greig McLean and cannot recommend him and the staff at the Berkeley Clinic highly enough. I had a 60 minute appointment and can honestly say I felt no pain at all. Each step of my treatment was explained to me by Greig. The fact the clinic has its own lab in the building is amazing as staff were able to come down to see me during my appointment. I lay back, relaxed and watched Blue Ocean on the screen above me whilst Greig worked his magic. A five star experience all round 😁”

As a nervous patient, The Berkeley Clinic has to be the best

“As a nervous patient, The Berkeley Clinic has to be the best. Reception staff, nurses and especially Doctor Greig McLean are all amazing. Fortunately my type of job allows me access to dental practices anywhere in the U.K. or USA. I would not consider any other than The Berkeley clinic and Doctor McLean”

Giffnock Orthodontic Centre has more than 10 years of experience and comes across as a decent option for many people, since they accept both private and NHS patients. I like that they provide a wide range of orthodontic treatments, including metal braces, white braces, and Invisalign.

For anyone who really doesn’t want to be seen wearing braces or aligners, they offer lingual braces that sit behind your teeth. They also have removable braces if you prefer something more comfortable than fixed ones.

It helps that they make it easier to decide with free consultations. Financing is available too, which is useful if you don’t qualify for NHS but want to avoid paying a large amount all at once.

However, I was disappointed to learn that orthodontists here have sometimes arrived late for appointments. A few patients also mentioned experiencing rude behaviour from the staff.

Pros

  • More than 10 years of experience
  • Accepts both private and NHS patients
  • Offers lingual and removable braces
  • Free consultations
  • Offers financing options

Cons

  • Some rude staff
  • Unpunctual orthodontists
